Perfected every event in Split/Second, but still itching for some fresh powerplays? Then we bring good news for you, as over the weekend it was confirmed that a whole batch of fresh content for the game is on its way.
Announced via the game’s official Facebook page, the downloadable content will take the form of four packs over the next two months. The first pack will “provide new liveries to really make your turbo-powered Elite vehicles stand out from the rest of the crowd”, whilst the second pack – The High Octane Supercar Pack – will include all new vehicles, such as the lovely shiny one we’ve stuck up top there. There is also a free ‘special edition’ vehicle “based on the original classic Ryback Cyclone” coming down the line. The packs will be available later this month.
The post also mentioned a “major DLC pack” which will be coming in September, including a whole new environment (as in, “new things to make go boom”), with more details to come.
There are no price or specific release date details, but with only three weeks of August left, and three content packs coming this month, it likely won’t be too long before we hear more about them.

Great to read that news, just bought the game and am on my way to completing it. It’s nice to see the game gets the support it deserves

I really hope nobody buys the new livery Dlc. What a total waste of money that’d be. They need to continue the career mode, they left a bit of a cliffhanger at the end didn’t they? They also need to improve the servers, don’t know if it’s just very quiet online but there never seems to be more than 3 or 4 people in a race, which makes improving online form kinda difficult.

I haven’t completed the game yet, so I can’t say anything about the end. But for the online I tried a couple of games saturday and didn’t have any problem finding games, the only problem I have online is that I suck at racing games, and my form decreases when I lose, so I never gonna get that form 1 trophy

I have only competed online once or twice, but on those occasions it was a saturday afternoon & each of the lobbies was full – Maybe down to the time you are playing perhaps?
Other than that, this is great news & i look forward to the “major DLC pack” when it’s released. Won’t be buying liveries though.

BLUR!

Blur is excellent, as is Split/Second, but they’re different.
One is a collect power-ups and use them tactically game, and the other is a race like crazy and hope no-one blows you up/dumps a building on you just before you cross the line. I have both.
It’s great that the new environments will be coming in September, but I’m not interested in liveries – or do that may my cars go faster/handle better?

Great band

both are completely different games.
One is a kart racer best played online, and the other is an action racer in the spirit of the PS2 Burnout games, although its amazing online against friends

Don’t see the point of new cars and liveries unless they give you something new to do with them, already got every gold medal. Will wait for the new track and see if they do a bundle. More events is what’s needed, definitely racing game of the year so far.

I’m a couple of gold medals short in the 12th episode, but a new environment would be amazing.
Good to see the support coming, although I’ve never bought any pointless cosmetic items in my life – and I won’t start now. However Split/Second’s liveries & decals are linked to in game challenges so it’d be interesting to see if the DLC adds more challenges.

The new burnout? :P

That’s no insult – Burnout was brilliant, and SS is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath.

whish i’d got this instead of blur tbh
Forrest_01
If you can afford it, you should get both – Both have their merits in very different ways.
I find that Blur is a great party game where i can hook up with friends online & have a blast & Split Second is just awesome whether it be online or off.

I rented Split Second but online is a waste of time unless you complete offline first and unlock the good cars. Blur is better as it uses a fairer system where you unlock cars through online play independently of what you’ve done in single play.
I actually preferred Blur because of the added tactical elements. It’s like the FPS of racing games with its own unlocks, mods (which are exactly like perks) and a ranking system very similar to THAT popular fish-named shooter series.
SS is good but if you get hit by a powerplay just at the wrong moment, you cannot avoid it and can lose the race. That sometimes seems unfair. In Blur you can hang on to a couple of defensive weapons or risk not doing so but know that it is your choice.
