It’s looking likely that a PSOne Import section will be coming to the North American PSN this month. The news comes from MonkeyPaw Games – via Siliconera – who have several games lined up for the service. Rather excitingly, this new section of the store will offer PSOne games previously only released in Japan. Confirmed titles include side-scrolling shooters Cho Aniki and GaiaSeed.
It seems that of the games confirmed so far, none are going to receive any sort of localisation which means plodding through Japanese text and menus.
So far nothing has been mention regarding Europe – but we shall ask the question.

Would love me some shmup action, hopefully our store follows suit

Don’t hold your breath for this to come to Europe – SCEE can’t even sort out PSOne Classics of major European releases, let alone niche imports.
Although having said that half the problem SCEE have is with the multiple publishers and rights owners across all the Countries they do the store for – maybe imports would be easier as no one owns the rights in Europe???
Lord_Gremlin
Europe is treated like shit, I don’t expect anything.
Tuffcub
Do you honestly think Sony are “treating you like shit” or couldi be there are legal problems, licensing issues and also the need for every game to have multipe language options.
SmokeyPSD
I’m going with treating like shit. Even when they can get it together they don’t. In terms of marketing, sony owned property and all.
hazelam
sounds reasonable, make sure the games are localised and that.
well at least it would be if they actually stuck to those rules, but they don’t.
i don’t think they deliberately treat us like shit, that would imply we mean something to them.
but sadly, as far as sony are concerned europe is just part of that little bit of the world that isn’t the us or japan, which is probably why scee has to support countries round the world, both sides of the bloody planet.
because the us and japan are so important that between them they must take up like 99& of the landmass of the planet, right?
everywhere else is just a little island somewhere.

@Tuffcub: Well, I honestly think so. I live in Russia, one of 2 countries where PS Plus is not available. Well, I suppose Turkey people are upset too. And Germans, due to the lack of content… Point is, my attitude here is a consumer’s one, I neither need nor want to understand all the details.
Well, truth be told lack of PS Plus may have something to do with the fact that certification of a service in Russia usually takes several months, or the fact that that service must offer something guaranteed to be certified in Russia (so far it seems that there is no consistency in PS plus updates, sometimes you get stuff, sometimes you don’t).

you think Europe has it bad, what about us living in South Africa!!
we always get everything last.

I would like to say to SCEE “Please don’t waste your valuable time on this”. These are sounding like very niche products which were obviously not deemed worthy of time required to release them in Europe in the first place so the market must be really minimal now that we’re two console gens on from the original release dates. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure that there is a market for these games but it must be so small that I’m sure that SCEE would be best off focusing their already stretched efforts on games/developments which will serve a wider audience.

Hmm, not sure where I stand on this because I’d like more PSOne games but I’d actually prefer parity with the U.S. store as opposed to obscure stuff I don’t understand but if we receive some kind of support it would show things are moving forward and maybe my wishes would eventually be realised.
Harinero
Nice, but the US PSN doesn’t want my European money any more, so…
gazzagb
The EU store is so far behind the US and Japan stores, it’s not even funny.
Im not too bothered about the imports, but it’s annoying when we miss out.
kivi95
So they ps1 classics will be in Japanese?
AJ
They’re going to need to redesign the store again if they keep adding sections.
Where’s the section gone that had “games with Trophies”?

Hey, the more content for the PSN the better. It’s not as if it’s going to be poor quality trash, just stuff you don’t understand.
