New Vegas DLC 360-Only?

We’re playing through as much of Fallout: New Vegas as we can before our review tomorrow but we were just interrupted by melodic chime of an email arriving in our inbox. Bethesda are letting us know about the plans for the first lot of downloadable content for this week’s hotly anticipated post-apocalyptic jaunt.

According to the press release:

The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

No mention of Sony’s side of the multiplatform release getting any loving but we suspect that this will possibly just be a timed exclusive as it was for 2008’s Fallout 3.

Fallout: New Vegas is released tomorrow in North America and on Friday in the EU. We’re currently under review embargo so we can’t tell you what we think of the game but call back to TSA at 3PM tomorrow and bask in the radioactive glow of our full review.

  1. when you say ‘webby’ are you saying my name or just saying website?

    • ignore this, it was supposed to be on the previous page. stoopid webby

  2. It’s funny how they have some of the best game writers/directors etc. but some of the worst developers lol.

    • yep, they make good games BADLY!

  3. is the ps3 version of new vegas really that bad? i hope not although i bought the fallout3 GOTY version which was fine till i entered the extra content where it ran at a regular 2 frames per second….ok i might be exagerating…maybe it was 1 frame a second…but it was pretty bad with regular 20 to 30 second game lock ups. i just hope this new vegas is more playable on ps3 than fallout3. Why do a lot of developers favour the 360? the results are better if they program for ps3 and port to 360…look at burnout paradise. at least EA are giving the ps3 the attention it deserves now.

    • It’s partly because the xbox is simpler, but mostly because 10 billion 8 year olds and chavs have 360’s, it’s a repeat of last gen, all the little brats got the cheapest console (PS2) and the xbox and GC got ignored by devs. But the 360 is the PS2 of this gen, because it’s cheap, and this is the only reason why everyone has them instead of PS3s.

      • On the contrary to what internet dweebs think. Exclusive games, DLC and Xbox Live have naff all to do with everyone having xboxs instead of PS3’s, the one and ONLY reason is because it’s cheap. Simple as.

      • The 360 is also easier to program, so I believe. Plus devs have had an extra year or so programming for 360 than for PS3, so they prefer it. You’d have thought they’d ironed out most of the problems by now, but such is life.

      • Actually, the PS2 was always the MOST expensive console of last gen, as the GC and Xbox kept undercutting to gain ground and failed at every turn. I recall the original Xbox launched at something like 100 quid more than the PS2 but had to cut it’s price within a couple of weeks because the launch went so badly, leading to early adopters having to be compensated with free games or something.

If any console is “this gen’s” PS2, it’s the Wii. Technically weakest, but sells like crazy, is heaving with shovelware, but has a fair amount of good games buried in amongst the crap if you make the effort to look.

  4. considering its just fallout 3 wiv a new story and location and charactors i doubt bethesda have even been bothered to fix the problems in their gamebryro engine expect the same problems as fallout 3 bethesda are an embarrasment to the gaming industry end of.

how much are we betting that bethesda excepted off MS for this exclusivity then ?

  5. Just looked at some hands on reports on the PS3 version of NV, and they seem to be saying it’s better than F3 was on PS3, so clearly someone’s pulling something.

Guess we’ll know soon enough what the facts are.

  6. I am still on Fallout 3 and I have made a vow a long time ago to never get a new game in a series until I have completed the previous game. Hence not playing Uncharted 2 yet.

  7. I just read Eurogamers review and i’m loving the sound of Hardcore mode (Thirst, hunger, sleep deprivation etc)! looking forward to the sixthaxis review! :)

  8. nice guys, nice.
