So, as it was foretold in the ancient scriptures, Wednesday shall be thy update day and it will be glorious. It shall be plentiful and have something for absolutely everyone, except for you, moaning minnie.
Racing to the head of the pack this week is Criterion’s entry into the Need For Speed franchise with Hot Pursuit. The demo will only be available for a limited time so don’t hang around if you want to try your hand at the titles’s built-in bragging rights ‘social network’ Autolog, as players get the chance to sample both single and multiplayer action.
If you only check the PSN Store on update day then you’d have missed out on the Red Dead Redemption DLC, The Undead Nightmare Pack which was launched yesterday. Expanding on the single player mode it also features brand new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location. If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber you can pick up the DLC with a 20% discount.
Elsewhere on the store we get all the content we’re accustomed to with the usual fantastic special offers, demos, full games, minis, PSP content and other media.

The pursuit chase was awesome, can’t wait for EMP and heli’s in the final game. The race was a bit bland I thought, but then there are no cops chasing or spiking you, which should make a big difference in the final game. It’s easy to spot Criterion’s touches in the game, although I took a shortcut but couldn’t find a billboard or superjump lol.

lol freeze, I think your getting confused with another game! Can’t wait to race against cops, the AI is difficult enough without having to think about spikes/emps ect! =O

Haha, absolutely mate. I think that the AI was competitive in the race due the limited car choice that the demo gives you. Unlocking higher Tier cars in the game will make the difference. Once I unlock that PCPD special….Oops! there I go again, confusing it with another game :O lol.

R* did a really good job with this and just in time for Halloween. I’ve got about 2 hrs of play and am loving every bit of it. Tried out multiplayer Horde mode last night too and although the difficulty really ramps up fast it’s pretty entertaining.

Counting down the seconds to Need For Speed Hot Pursuit
Will also try out Time Crisis but I’m hearing really bad things about the Move controller not working well for ‘light gun’ style games, the tracking the glowing ball just doesn’t work well in comparison to an IR beam from a light gun or a Wii controller

It works well in the shoot, however have been hearing it is implemented poorly in Time Crisis.

Can’t wait for NFS either!
Looking forward to testing out Time Crisis as well. I love the originals. Less so 4 onwards.

oooh, Time Crisis and possibly PSP PES for me. Possibly.
I wonder if my credit card has melted yet?
On a side note: Good luck to Ross on his first fully solo store update without Mike Kebby to blame if the wheels fall off or the locals lift their pitchforks. We’re rooting for you you, Ross.

Thank you Pete, you’re a gentleman. I reckon things got a bit long-winded in the middle there but at least no-one can accuse me of not being responsive enough, eh? :)

I’ve downloaded the NFS demo on both the xbox and ps3. Wasn’t sure at first, because of the handling feeling quite heavy, but started to enjoy it more as I got the hang of it. I did find it easier to control on the Xbox, probably due to the difference in analogue sticks on the respective controllers.
The cops chase event is much more fun than the racers event, I was hoping to get chased by AI police at some point, but it’s just a normal race.

The game was developed on PS3 and ported to 360. The 360 won’t be better. Like you say any preferences to the 360 would have to be something controller based and only personal opinion.

I had Burnout Paradise on both systems. Criterion do seem to favour PS3 but the games are pretty much identical on both systems.

Hot Pursuit and Time Crisis demos for me! I’ve also heard very bad things about Time Crisis, I’ll have to try it for myself.

Hot Pursuit is Ace. Beat my expectations, well done Criterion! All the good stuff from NFS mixed with burnout style gameplay! Can’t wait now!
