UK Charts: Week Ending 30th October

The charts have been graced by yet another new number one, with Fable III booting Fallout off the top spot.  Check out the TSA review here if you’re still unsure whether it’s worth your hard earned cash.

Star Wars charts in a respectable fifth place, although I was expecting it to do much better.  Some reviews have been less than favourable though.  SvR 2011 has also done ok, but again I thought it may have placed higher.  Are my expectations too high?

Every week there seems to be an oddity, and this one is no exception with New Super Mario Bros. Wii jumping up fifteen places.

  1. Not too many suprises here really. Fable 3 was bound to take top spot, which is impressive none-the-less given it is not a multiformat title. FU2 reviewed badly almost across the board, which is bound to put some people off investing.
    Mario Wii is probably doing well at the moment as it is now being bundled with the Red Wii they have released.

    • I played the demo of FU2 and thought it was brilliant! But, at the same time, I am waiting for the price to drop a little before picking up a copy

      • I bought it on friday & it is indeed brilliant (imo of course) – If you liked the first one, you should like the second as it improves in almost every way. A couple of people have complained about the length of the game though, which i can’t comment on as i haven’t gotten far enough yet due to being out for the whole weekend & only getting to play it yesterday!

    • Of course, I forgot about the Limited Edition Wii.

      • I don’t think it would count in console sales seeing as it’s in the box and not scanned through the tills seperately. (AFAIK, of course)

      • Ahh, I didn’t realise it was actually in the Wii box, I thought it was just part of a bundle.

  3. No Rock Band 3?? the shame.

    • How about Guitar Hero 5? That entered the charts at no.29 and then vanished. HMV are already discounting the new guitars.

    • I too was disapointed that it didn’t feature in this weeks charts. RB3 tops everything in RB2 and is just about the piniacle of rhythm / music gaming at the moment imo.

      p.s If anyone has this on the 360 and needs a band member to play over XBL give me a pm please.

  4. Amazingly no Rockband 3 seeing as it genuinely is a pretty revolutionary title, everyone is probably weary of the past incremental upgrades and the flood of titles in the music game genre over the past 2 years.

    Star Wars FU2 has been thrashed in review score so I’d expect its stay in the charts to be a short one despite the branding, although whats the Star Wars brand worth these days, where any old crap can carry the name, especially as even the craphole that is Currys/PCWorld can get in on the act.

    Good showing across the charts on the single platform front by Ninty again

    • I have stand up for PCWORLD as there customer service was excellent when my 60GB PS3 YLOD out of warranty. I wrote about it in the forum here. Basically they paid the cost of the Sony refurb. So take it back :)

      As for Star wars the demo itself looked pretty good but its not a game id go out and buy day 1 maybe when its a little cheaper down the line. Not even read the review scores might go and look at them now to see what the fuss is about.

  7. Enslaved and Vanquish?

    Won’t be long before publishers won’t bother with new IP on disc releases at all, and all gamers get is the sequel-city their buying habits deserve.

  8. that fable 3 advert is so annoying i want to punch the tv in, and i hate all the wii games theyre crap, i havnt used my wii for a year !!
