So Kinect’s out in the wild now, giving us the chance to see what the device is actually like when in the home. One might say that the launch titles are skewed towards the more casual end of the market, but more core experiences are on the way. Microsoft’s UK marketing boss, Stephen McGill, had the following to say:
“Obviously back in September at the Tokyo Game Show we announced a whole range of incredible games really targeted to core gamers that are going to be dedicated to Kinect – adventure games, horror games etc.
We’ll start showing more of those in 2011. 2011 is going to be an amazing year for gamers both on Kinect and normal controller-based games for Xbox 360. I think there’s something for everyone.”
We are currently ploughing through some Kinect games for review. Fans of dancing should keep an eye on the main page at 1pm.

If they had finger-accuracy I’d be so much more interested in adventure and horror/thriller titles.

I’m interested in how they can get a Steel Battallion game working with Kinect.

yeah same here fella, I adored the first two (hasn’t been a decent mech game since imo), so am very intrigued by the series rebirth.

The haunt looks/sounds excellent, though personally I would prefer Microsoft keep the Kinect focussed as a casual family friendly device as I think that is where it will excel (in terms of games, not just sales). I like the idea of using the 360 as a core console but then breaking out the Kinect when we have a party or family over.

Casual and hardcore need not be mutually exclusive. Would it not be a win win for it to have both party games (dance central) and games for the more traditional gamer (Child Of Eden)?

They get everywhere and are indicative of a wider human ailment in my opinion. Been writing an article about it for a little while now, that I may submit.
