Some lunch-time humour to help pass the snowy afternoon. Just how long is Gran Turismo 5′s mammoth install time? Well, apparently long enough for two industry stalwarts to completely deplete a household’s entire stock of tea.
Check out Steve Hogarty and Matt Lees as they suffer the insidious drudge of waiting for Polyphony’s latest to finally deliver the bickies. Things soon turn south, ultimately resulting in the deterioration of their friendship to a point beyond repair. Maybe.

Is this similar to the stat that says when we had the day with no ps3 or network that most people slept with their partners instead?

Guy on the left definitely picks up a 360 controller at the start!

Same, maybe he’s defected to Microsoft the traitor. The install time may be long enough to destroy friendship but surely not loyalty?

Good vid. Love the ’999 Lifesavers’ style. The final shot is great too.

My GT5 install took almost 70 mins, even though it said approx 30 mins at the start, the last “4 seconds remaining” of installation took more than 5 mins.

I thought mine was bad enough at 61m. Spent most of its time saying either 13m, 35s or 3s remaining.

It’s probably got to do with your choice of hard drives. I chose Toshiba’s excellent 2.5 inch 650GB MK6465GSX (part of the same Toshiba series used for the PlayStation Slim); it took me about 20-30 minutes. While it installed, I enjoyed an episode of Top Cat. Seriously.

Mine surprisingly took just another 30mins, it could be my connection. But I only have 7GB left, poor 40gig.

Mind also took 40 minutes. You’re connection has nothing to do with it though, as it’s installing off the disc, not the net. Perhaps you’re talking about the software update?

Mine took a little over an hour. I then foolishly clicked the video section on the main menu and had to endure another 10-15 minute wait as it did SOMETHING(?!). Absolutely stupid, given the load times are still dreadful after all that waiting

I left mine installing so it was ready for when I got home from my lecture :-) So I have no idea how long mine took. I do feel sorry for everyone that finally got their hands on the game, only to then have to wait an hour for it to start lol.
