GT5 To Get Web-Browser B-Spec Mode

Gran Turismo 5, it appears, isn’t finished. Technically, it probably never will be, with Polyphony promising to add features above and beyond what we’d normally expect of a game that’s been on the shelves for a couple of weeks.

In addition to the recent updates, including today’s online damage settings, it looks like the studio are planning some really killer features for the near future, including a web-browser based B-Spec mode that will allow you to monitor your AI drivers from the comfort of your laptop, if translations are correct.

Speaking on Twitter again, Kaz Yamauchi is answering public questions openly and candidly, as he has done in the past.

He’s also mentioned that racing your mates on your custom designed tracks might also be in the offering soon enough.

  1. Would be great to see this game get alot of backing for a while yet. Might shut up the haters a bit who barely scratched the surface of the game.

    • If by haters you mean the people who were disappointed by the game that has so far failed to deliver what it promised, yeah, maybe. 3 patches to add basic functionality down, 500 more to go.

      • Couldn’t agree more Juelz. The problem is they are still adding functionality that was supposed to in there in the first place. Going to be a while before they get round to sorting out the dreadful AI and generslly lacklustre gameplay.

Oh, and kjk, I’m level 20 on GT5 now and although some of the special events and races have got more interesting it’s still a big dissapointment overall.

      • lvl40 – _then_ moan.

  2. heard about this a while back, still a peice on it over at the US gt site i think, i was expecting it to be included from day one. be lovely to up my bspec driver from work.

  3. This would be a great addition, I would love this!

  4. Not sure about the web based B-spec but racing your mates on your own tracks could be fun.

    • I’m quite surprised that you cant race your friends on the created tracks now. Whats the point of the tracks then? That’s actually a serious question.

      • That’s one of the reasons I haven’t created any tracks so far.

  5. Wasn’t this known to the public even before the game was released? I’m not sure..

    • Yeah, I remember seeing stuff about “GT Anywhere” – that’s what it’ll be called – as far back as September whenit was mentioned at TGS. I remember Kaz saying even back then that it would be ready shortly after launch, so it makes sense to see it start cropping up again now.

  6. I can’t wait to get this, it sounds like it will just get better and better with time! It’s refreshing to see Kaz being so open as well, I’m impressed!

    • Yeah i know, quick some one twitter him when we can expect an update to the used car section so we can find the cars we want!

  7. So I could basically play GT5 while at school? Earning cash, unlocking cars, having…fun?
Yes, please, that would be awesome!

  8. This is the first online connected full blown GT is it? In that case the game can be tinkered and updated indefinitely. I suspect a lot of additions and options that the GT community want will be implemented over time. Its not like they have to worry about GT6 until about 2015 is it!

  9. That sounds awesome, If I could set a b-spec race going whilst at work I’d be a happy chap. Also I’m loving the fact that GT5 seems like it’s constantly evolving. long may it continue

  10. I’d love a web browser B-spec mode. It would be great to develop my B-spec drivers while checking my e-mails etc. ;)
