Insomniac Games Answer Resistance 3 Questions

We can imagine Insomniac has been pretty busy over the last couple of days.  Whilst we enjoyed the latest Resistance 3 trailer, it left us wanting to know more about the game in general.  The developer has hit the Internet in an attempt to answer as much as possible about the game.

On NeoGAF Insomniac community man James Stevenson had the following to say:

“We’ll get into this more on the Full Moon Show, I think… and we have to be careful about discussing exactly where we are in dev… but we totally have a lot of content done (2 years of dev so far) w/ a lot of polishing to go.

The game is playable start to finish on disc though, which is pretty insane for an Insomniac game w/ this much time left.”

A Collector’s Edition, Resistance 3 3D, and Move integration is also being discussed – although we would be surprised if Move support was absent, bearing in mind the PS3’s other flagship FPS will have it.

Multiplayer is said to be:

“New, improved. It’s a more focused experience, progression-based, and takes place in maps located around the world.”

And finally, it was confirmed that the non-live sections of the reveal trailer were indeed in-engine and real-time.  If you could see the gun in Capelli’s hand, then that was the team playing the game.

  1. “The game is playable start to finish on disc” coulkd this mean a beta or demo is in the offing?

  2. Resistance: Fall of Man was the first major online experience I had with the PS3, and it was fantastic. Though R2 stepped up the player-count, the action felt somewhat unbalanced and a little too arcade-like. I would hope to see a more streamlined multiplayer experience in Resistance 3 as well as the superb co-op with accompanied the previous game.

    • I didn’t much care for the tdm and other such modes in R2 multiplayer. much prefered the old 30v30 in R1! good old manchester cathedral!

    • I really don’t like either resistance online. I hate playing as the chimera. Only enjoy online games where both teams have the same starting point. Special abilities for 1 team is a big no no for me.

  3. Totally love R1 and 2. Both on and offline, great games. 3 i shaping up to out do the both of them by the looks of things. Really looking forward to this game.

  4. I know it’s bad, but i read the subtitle the wrong way!

    • What, Eastern European, Eastern European, Eastern European?

  5. I really liked the co-op in R2, I’m sad it’s gone!

  6. “but we totally have”

If Insomniac’s James Stevenson didn’t pull some sort of gnarly Bill & Ted pose whilst uttering these words he should be struck down.

  7. Interesting to see how much different a 2 year dev cycle game is from them as they have been making a game every fall since 2002 with the first ratchet game which was a 2 year game.
