“Something Awesome” Coming to LittleBigPlanet 35

LittleBigPlanet 2′s out in a couple of weeks, but yesterday the first reviews went live (including ours) and, as of writing this, there are only four games ahead of it in the PlayStation 3 Metacritic chart.

At the moment, after fourteen reviews, Sackboy’s latest adventure is sitting snugly at 94% – and the praise for the game is overwhelmingly good, with the lowest score a still fantastic 85%. Most critics have high hopes for the Create mode, with magazine GamesTM saying they “can’t wait to see what LittleBigPlanet 2 has evolved into in a month or three, when we can truly measure the impact that these tools will have had on an already ultra-creative community.”

Eurogamer felt the same way as us about the single player game – it’s good, but the strength of the title lies in what the user can do. “Strip away the relentless good looks,” they said, “and the generous open-source playpen, and the bare, underlying platformer’s shortcomings may hold it back from classic status. But as a package, as a concept, as an unfinished story, LittleBigPlanet 2 is a world apart. ”

We can’t wait to see what TSA’s community comes up with – let us know if you’re pre-ordering the game and where from.

  1. Really looking forward to LBP2, and great to see it getting such high praise =]

I’ve pre-ordered mine from ShopTo, so fingers crossed it’ll be with me on release day at the very latest!

    • I preordered the CE from Ebgames. I get a cute little plush toy of Sackboy as a bonus :)

Also got my gf to pre-order the game for herself as well

  3. Good stuff, I hope it manages to nick top spot. The demo is brilliant, just a shame the full game is over a fortnight away.

  7. I’m unsure if I should get this. I enjoyed the first LBP, but couldn’t make anything decent. Saying that, I really want to know how those guys made that Windows level. That’s just plain awesome :P

    • Same here, I just didn’t have the patience and time to create something half decent! There’s no way I’ll be able to make anything that anyone will play with the new tools!

      • I agree with you on that Kivi. Some of the levels people have made are fantastic.
I did hope that MM would have made things a tad bit easier to make things though, but I guess that’s the fun of it. Learning how to use the tools provided :)

      • The IGN review seems to suggest that the creation elements are a bit easier to master this time out.

  8. looking perfect.

i dont have the game pre-orded because im planning on buying it the day it comes out so that im there from the start (creating playable boxes and flying glasses levels before anyone else)

shame the release date is 11 days before i go black to school but i guess its better then getting it after the holidays when i dont have any time to practice.

  10. I’m gonna pick it up from Argos on day one, I think I’ll trade in GT5 ….. Yeah I said it, GT5. It’s fairly bored me without the steering wheel and LBP is the game I’ve held onto for the longest amount of time so it makes sense to buy this.
