GT5 Save Data Cracked Open

It seems the flood gates are most definitely open, as reports are coming in that a PS3 owner has managed to successfully copy over, crack open, and modify someone else’s almost complete GT5 save game to run on his own PSN profile.

This has apparently given access to “loads of trophies, loads of cars, and loads of money” – which he can use online – whilst also arguably negating the whole point of owning GT5.

Sadly, it’s safe to assume this is the start of many more game saves being bust wide open.

TheSixthAxis does not condone piracy and does not recommend the modification of your console.

  1. My GT5 savegame crashed 2 days ago. savegame corrupted. A & B spec lvl 26.11.000.000cr and 200 cars gone. Back to zero. If I could find a savegame with almost equal levels, I would use it.

    • I think the percentage of people using it for that reason is pretty small though

    • Just said on a previous comment about my PS3 being temperamental (corruptions every other day, etc). I’ve essentially given up with GT5 for this reason.
The massive installs only add to the pain, let alone the fact that I keep on losing all my cars, credits and other various achievements.
I’m aware that installs aren’t mandatory, but without the install, the game becomes a massive pain in the collective behind.

  2. sony should bring out the shotgun soon and start taking out these people. show no mercy or stuff will just get worse.

  3. These things don’t bother me that much. I know I, and all the people on my friends list, have earned their trophies properly and I couldn’t give a poop about anyone elses.
If you want to pretend you are a better gamer than you are, fine, but in reality the only time it matters is playing online where you will be found out.

  4. This is pointless and pathetic.

  5. I would really like a service where I could actually protect my saves…from corruptness, YLOD and formats so to hell with copy-protection its just a fecking headache and game killer.

  6. confirmed, people are cunts.

  7. i’ve used saves in the past, though i used them for single player games that didn’t have any kind of trophy or achievement system.

i refer to the dara obriain sketch posted on here a few weeks back, http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/12/11/dara-o-briains-gaming-stand-up-routine/
watch it if you haven’t, it’s hilarious.

i want to get all i can out of the game, why should my, often, lack of skill or, at least as often, shit level or game design stop me from getting the whole game.

however, doing it like this guy seem to be for trophies, i can see why it gets to people, that bothers me a little.

why don’t people have the same disdain for boosters though i wonder?
that’s cheating just as much as this is surely.
yet i always end up being in the minority when i call boosters cheaters.

is the difference between cheating and legitimate strategy just a case of how many people do it?

finally, while i don’t have such a problem with the use of other people’s saves, i do not believe modding your console for piracy is a good thing. doing it to put it in a sweet new case is however. :)

  8. It’s not really an issue for me , i’d prefer to get maximum longevity from my purchases and if i play against one of these people online then there will be restrictions making us have the same choice of cars .

  9. it doesnt bother me whatsoever, i wont be using someone else save but it doesnt bother me if others do, and as for the un-earned trophies, its impossible to differentiate between ‘truly earned platinums’ and ‘followed step by step instructions online platinums’ so the trophy system was already flawed long before the ps3 was hacked.

  10. Since when is changing a save game Piracy?

I was tempted when I was reading a walkthrough for Tombraider ( yeah I know..) and there where also gamesaves available… But as the general consensus of this thread I do not feel the need of using gamesaves..
