We’ve played Killzone 3 - our detailed hands on will attest to that and we absolutely love it – but we only got a small sample of the single and multiplayer modes to play through, so the news that the full game is now complete and has ‘gone gold’ is good news indeed.

“There’s a new and improved melee system,” we said in our hands on, “much better character animation and some bombastic new weaponry, the WASP rocket launcher transforming into a devastatingly powerful (not to mention accurate) device that requires immediate mastery of the new artillery like ‘alt fire’ mode at the level’s mid point.”

“There’s also more emphasis on the relationship between characters (mostly through cut-scenes) although the script is a little too ‘gung-ho’ for our sensibilities – the end of mission pep-talk a particularly cringe-worthy few moments.”

SCEA’s Mike Graham has today confirmed that “Killzone 3 has officially gone gold, and will be coming to stores on February 22nd, 2011.”

The game continues right where Killzone 2 left off, with the player assuming the role of Sevchenko from the last game. Outnumbered and isolated, it’s now a question of survival.

We’re hoping to get hold of the game as soon as possible – when we do we’ll be all over it.

Update: SCEE have just confirmed the release date we’ve all known about for several weeks thanks to retail sector. February 25th for UK, that’s a few days later than our cousins in the US – February 22nd for them and even later than the rest of the EU (again) who will see it on the 23rd.

    • Hmmm, I’m still a few quid short.
I either borrow from a friend and try explaining to them why I need it (my friends are all anti-gaming) or wait until I get some more money on March 6, when it might be sold out.
      Any help guys?

      • I would never get a special edition game if I’m short on money, I had enough money for the GT5 Signature Edition but didn’t but it as I may need money later on. I REALLY wanted the GT5 SE, I even had it on pre order :(

So if I were you, I wouldn’t buy it, I’d get the normal game

      • Sell it back on? You can flog it without the game or sell items individually. It’s going for a nice sum on eBay.

  5. KZ3 has a coop campaign mode so it’s a must buy. Guess it’s time to get my hands on KZ2 now.

    • KillZone 2 is the best FPS out there. Hell, KZ is the best franchise with Resistance chasing and snapping at its heels!

KZ2 is still loads of fun on and offline and you pick it up preowned for Eff All!

Do it my friend, join the fight against the Helghast!

    • Played KZ1 on the PS2 and didn’t really enjoy it. Tried the KZ2 demo. Thought it was ok but overhyped for my taste. I’m not a fan of online MP so a 7 hour campaign didn’t cut it for me to pick it up at release. Will get it eventually but it’s not a priority for me right now. Calling it the best FPS out there is more an opinion than a fact. ;)
Love the Resistance series (prefer it to the KZ franchise) but there are shooters out that that are better in my opinion. Painkiller has to be one of my favourites out there. Borderlands, also high on my list.
