Speaking at GameLab 2011 in Barcelona, MediaMolecule’s studio director Siobhan Reddy has said they’re “stepping away” from LittleBigPlanet for a while, to “focus on some new ideas”.
MediaMolecule were responsible for the two main PlayStation 3 LittleBigPlanet games, whilst the PSP version was handled by Sony Cambridge and the in-progress Vita version in the safe hands of Middlesborough based Double11.
It’s obviously not clear what else MediaMolecule are working on, but they’re owned entirely by Sony, so expect it to be on a PlayStation device.

Look forward to seeing what else they can do as a developer. Lost interest in LBP a few weeks after the first release and never really went back to it.

Good call. The LBP games are great, but there is absolutely no need for a third for a few years yet, I feel.

Looking forward to what they’ve got planned next – a really good Move gae would be ace.

‘game’ not ‘gae’

MM should work with Tarsier Studios to finish The City of Metronome.

The original LBP trailer was probably the first wow moment for me this generation and since being released it has not only delivered on but exceeded my expectations .. Mm have done a fantastic job and i’m certain their next project will be something to watch out for.

i can’t wait to see what they can come up with next.

As long as they don’t step away from supporting LBP, it’s ok. But I guess that means we won’t see any more expansions for LBP2 after the Move DLC. Hopefully we’ll still get some level-packs by one of their cooperating developers.

I’d really like to see Media Molecule do something that’s out of their comfort zone. I think there’s potential in that company for a kid-friendly RPG.

MM are quite a small team so perhaps they might persue smaller PSN titles? I hope periodical level kits come along because the MM levels are always a joy to play especially with some of the masked humor coming through. I wonder if it will use the LBP engine?

Pressure is now on to create something equally successful.
