EA Sports Season Ticket Launches

Here’s a slightly more meaty version of the online pass. EA Sports have talked about the features of their Season Ticket system before but today, it launches.

The Season Ticket costs 2000 MSP per year and earns users a number of new benefits on top of existing DLC. For example, the four titles featured will be available for download three days before scheduled release for Ticket holders. There will also be a 20 percent discount on premium DLC, extra web content like customisation packs and a little badge to show that you’ve bought into the scheme.

The four participating titles are Madden NFL 12, Tiger Woods 12, FIFA 12 and NHL 12. Madden is released later this month and all of the Season Ticket’s perks will roll out with each release as they come around.

The press release makes no mention of PSN availability, although the official site lists it at $24.99.

Is this something you’re willing to pay for?

Update: Eurogamer is reporting that EA and SCEE failed to reach an agreement to sell the Season Ticket on the PSN in Europe. So Europe’s PS3s won’t be getting it, unless some speedy dealing can be done.

  1. Actually cheaper than the extra 6% I’m paying on my Arsenal season ticket. Grrrr.

    • ….and no, I’m not willing to fork out for it.

  2. Sounds a bit like buying PS Plus, but just for EA’s sports titles. Can’t see it being popular in Europe with NHL and Madden taking up 50% of the offer.

  3. A badge? HOLD ME BACK!
    :)

    • Ooooh, a little badge. [does a sarcastic Homer tippy toes excited dance]

  4. Anyone want to bet that the ‘Season ticket’ will become the new on-line pass within the next couple of years and that new game prices will not drop in price to compensate?

    • thats a sound bet!

Pay for online features on top of already high prices, then charge again the game is resold. thats the future…

  5. Well… Fifa as hardly any DLC rather than stats???… meh, its not worth the money to me since I don’t like the other games.

    • They will just start stripping things out of the game like stadiums and legend teams etc… and making them available to buy as DLC.

      • Oh god… i hope that doesn’t happen.

      • Don’t worry. The games should still be fine for a while. It’s when they make the ball DLC that you have to worry.

  6. Doen not sound like good value at all.

  7. That is outrageous! Why is a feature that i don’t want not available to me??

  8. That works out at £15.25, not worth it.

  9. And the world of gaming as we know changed.

  10. I’m wondering if this will start to alienate the non Season Pass holders and encourage FIFA players to switch to PES. Especially if EA start trying to shove it down our throats when PES looks as though it has turned the corner.
