Sony Working On “TV/Video Streaming App”

[drop2]Here’s an interesting one.  It looks like, based on a series of job adverts in this month’s Edge magazine, SCEE are working on a TV/video streaming service.

It’s not clear whether or not it’s a brand new application, but as one role is for a User Interface Developer it’s likely that if it’s not, it’s an existing tool that’s getting a facelift.

Vidzone?  Unlikely.  PlayTV, possibly, but that doesn’t stream movies that wouldn’t normally be classified as TV.

The other jobs are for a C/C++ Engineer and a JavaScript Developer, all of which specifically mention a “movie/TV streaming application for PlayStation 3” except the C/C++ programmer, which just states “video”.

All the roles are with SCEE’s Research and Development group, suggesting whatever this is, it’s potentially some way away.

  1. A lovefilm type service would be good. I’d consider a subscription service to watch Sony/Columbia films.

  2. Could it be for the vita 3g? Catch up tv just about works on my iPhone… When I sit absolutely still and only for as long as I can hold my breath!

  3. Might send my CV in ;)

      • On that note…there’s a topic for you in the forum ;)

  4. Hope it’s not to do with Play TV as it’s not available in my area.
