Welome to another Wednesday, another PSN Store update. This week marks the start of pre-orders for the PLAY promotion, if there were any games involved that were tickling your fancy.

We also see the single player demo of Ubisoft’s Driver: San Francisco, which races on to stores and gives you plenty of opportunity to experience the new “shift” mechanic that allows you to jump between cars (and off car transporting trucks!).

Splinter Cell Trilogy HD makes it downloadable debut, before it hits the shops and it is at that reduced price too. You can get it as a bundle or as individual games.

Elsewhere, the PS Mini we looked at earlier today, Hysteria Project 2 is available (and cheap) and Spelunker HD is live for €9.99/£7.99. On top of that, PS Plus members get a new selection of discounts added to their package.

There are also demos for Madden 12 and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron so there’s plenty to keep your bandwidth busy.

As always, click on the next page link below to see the entire content of this week’s update.

  1. Does anyone know if one of these preorders would automatically download if you’re a PS+ subscriber? Would be nice since we’re paying upfront :)

  2. A great update, one of the best yet

    • Agreed! Lots for me this week…R3 Beta, Driver demo, free LBP2 DLC, Renegade Ops preorder (with PS+ discount), and Stacking inc DLC for basically a fiver!

Recommend Costume Quest too since that’s uber cheap!

      • Oh and the Splinter Cell HD for me :)

  3. i played driver this morning it is rubbish IMO the handling has got to be the worst i have ever witnessed and the shift mechanic seems like a boring gimmick

    • This is good news….I REALLY need to cut down my pre-orders!

    • Glad it wasn’t just me then, very disappointing really as I had hoped for you know…the return of Driver ;)

    • I found the handling far too twitchy and i’m stupefied that someone thought it was a good idea to have Nitro assigned to ‘push L3 up’. Hopefully the controls were only locked for the demo as that’s a game-breaker for me.
As for the shift mechanic, i got the feeling that it will interfere with the driving far too much and it just didn’t gel. When i shifted Tanner’s consciousness to another car, Tanner’s body was still able to control his own vehicle. When i was told to lose the cops, i shifted back to Tanner’s body/car and watched the cops chase the other car away into the distance – yet i still failed the mission. I guess the cops must know all about the shifting too.. :?

    • Played it for 5 minutes too before giving up.

  4. Wow THQ are desperate to get money with so many DLC’s
Well for me today is a demo of Driver and Madden NFL 12
    Maybe Resistnace 3 Multiplayer Beta – maybe…..
I wonder if I should get the MK9 Warrior Bundle or wait for the price to drop down…. hmmmm decisions, decisions, decisions

    • I thought the same about the MK pack tbh, but it wouldn’t be good value for me as i just don’t play it enough to warrant it. For me, the value would be in how much use it would get, which would be very little. Good price if you will use the characters though.

    • you save £3.77 now, compared to if you bought them one by one (ive bought 2 so far)

    • Is it just me or does ‘spelunker’ sound rude to other people?

      • yep it’s rude, anagram of ‘spunk leer’

  6. If anyone’s interested, Gladiator Begins is pretty decent action RPG, especially for £12!

  7. Wow, great update and (at last) reasonable full game download prices (albeit for older games)!

Might grab Red Faction: Guerrilla even though I have it on the 360 for that price, as well as the Splinter cell stuff.. Great stuff

    • go into my channels and download them there they should show up again

      • i actually prefer it now that s it streamlined. i can now choose which ones i want on my xmb instead of them being forced on me. just my opinion.

      • Like the ITV/STV one? ;)

    • It has been changed to a “my channels” icon, click on that and redownload 4OD and it reappears on your XMB. Bit bizarre!

      • Yes – illogical that. “My channels” should really be called “More channels” because they’re the ones you haven’t got yet!
