Street Fighter X Tekken Features Online Training Mode, 4 Player Battle Royal

Capcom has released a ton of new assets for Street Fighter X Tekken. The most important news, however, came from the fact sheet sent out to the press. Generally, these fact sheets don’t reveal too much information. This time, it’s different.

I’ve singled out the most important additions below.

  • Briefing Room – Get your combos and timing just right with help from your friends in this online training mode.
  • Scramble Mode – Four separate players, online or offline, control each of the four characters on screen for the ultimate battle royale.
  • Pandora Mode – Sacrifice your partner in battle for a short, but powerful, boost in strength.

If Briefing Room is a proper online training mode, then this is huge news for fighting game fans. It’s is actually something I’ve been wanting in a fighting game for years now. In fact, I even questioned Seth Killian about including one a little over a year ago and wrote about it several times in the past. It’s going to be a whole lot easier now to test strategies and learn how to play.

The 4 player tag mode is a throwback to the original Tekken Tag Tournament. It requires players to form strategies on the fly so you know that’s going to be a lot of fun. Scramble mode, on the other hand, removes tagging from the equation. It sounds interesting. As long as lag isn’t a major factor, playing online should be a blast.

Pandora Mode is a new mechanic entirely. It basically turns your character “evil” if you sacrifice your partner in exchange for power. You’ll notice in one of the screenshots below that Ryu looks much darker than usual. That’s how all the characters appear while in a Pandora state.

  1. I want the Vita version of this ever since E3.
Looks great, and more features are added every time I hear about it.
