The UK Chart listing is in, and Gears of War 3 has knocked off Dead Island to take the number one spot. We praised the game in our review, and personally I love it, stomping my way through the campaign as well as having a blast in co-op, beast and horde mode.
F1 2011 comes in second place, and again this received a positive review from us, although I am hearing a few disgruntled comments about the penalty system.
Zumba manages to halt its descent down the chart and actually jumps up two places, whilst Resistance 3 drops down.
1. Gears of War 3 (Microsoft)
2. F1 2011 (Codemasters)
3. Dead Island (Deep Silver)
4. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Square Enix)
6. Driver: San Francisco (Ubisoft)
7. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (THQ)
8. Resistance 3 (Sony)
9. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)
10. Rugby World Cup 2011 (505 Games)
11. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
12. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft)
13. Cars 2 (Disney)
14. The Sims 3 (EA)
15. Red Faction: Armageddon (THQ)
16. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
17. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Warner)
18. Michael Jackson: The Experience (Ubisoft)
19. LA Noire (Rockstar)
20. Gran Turismo 5 (Sony)

Not a major surprise to see Gears at the top, hopefully this Sunday I get to open my copy and play it for the first time :D
Shame to see R3 plummeting this early on but the series is known for that I suppose :(
What are the odds of FIFA knocking Gears off the top spot next week do you reckon?

Not sure, but i hold hope as i would rather not see zumba climb any higher than it is now. Again.
Although, we are speedily approaching ‘silly amounts of releases’ season, so i think the top spot will see quite a few changes in the coming weeks.

R3 did well imo if GOW released the same day as Dead Island & Warhammer not so sure GOW would be top.

FIFA will go top and stay top until Battlefield releases, I reckon.

I reckon FIFA will jump to the top next week (as it should really, definately a strong series). It will probably stay there until 21st Oct when Batman kicks it off and then BF3 will claim top spot the week after (that is until Uncharted and MW3 come along of course).
Should be interesting :)

Oh, I forgot about Batman!
It might knock FIFA off, but maybe not.
Football is a pretty easy sell, and this FIFA is leaps ahead of previous games judging by the demo.
Batman may edge out above FIFA for one week at most, but FIFA will stay above all it year round after that.
But will it be able to reclaim a no.1 spot? Doubtful.
Especially once Call of Duty rears it’s head.

I’m just judging Batman’s popularity by the Eurogamer expo this weekend. The queues were monsterous! lol :|

I guess this is my cue to go and buy a copy of R3 to help it stay in the top 10. I’m holding off until after I finished the Team ICO Collection which I am very much looking forward to getting my hands on hopefully by the end of the week.

Glad resistance is doing well, I guess most people are completing human revo then moving onto r3 as I have. Gears is the best game on 360 so glad its doing well.

I would say that Gears being released 3 days before F1 would be why, but I still think Gears would have been on top. Glad to see F1 up there though, and I’m not surprised about Resistance 3 performance really…not a big fan of it.

As a PS3 owner, I must say i can see GOW3 decimating Resistance 3 in this particular battle of console exclusives.

The following day every copy of Zumba was mysteriously destroyed. The police cba to solve it as there were too many suspects.
I was expecting GOW3 to top the charts and so it did. Looks like COD is slowly sneaking back up the charts every week. ;)

Gears won’t be there long. FIFA is a hugely popular game and the demo pushed it from a not sure to a buy. Currently debating about whether to get it now or a bit further down the line.

If it makes your decision easier, Asda direct are currently selling it for £35 instead of the 42-44 that most places are charging :)
