Meet the Reader: Spooferbarnabas

How did you first stumble across TSA? What made you decide to sign up?

Ah, well I remember watching bacon playing in a few of the TSA Killzone 2 boots (this was before I had my own PS3), so I signed up and got my own PS3 mainly so I could join in the mayhem. I’m not really one for gaming news (which explains my horrific knowledge of ‘classic games’) so signed up purely for the meets and community aspect.

Hold on a second… Bacon’s your older brother? I didn’t make that connection. Not even at EGX.

Yes, and how did you not know? Most people on TSA and Twitter know, at least I thought so.

Nope, didn’t have a clue. Then again, a lot of stuff goes right passed me. This is particularly revelatory for me.

Nice use of revelatory there, I like it. And there are a few brothers on TSA, Radboud and Vandix, Ash and his brother (forgotten his name), Ryan and his brother (forgotten his name).

I remember Ash’s brother’s name because it’s a nice bit of self deprecation going on. DimJim and maybe a number or two after. Ryan’s brother is on TSA too?

Indeed, I think he did a few Left 4 Dead meets when they were going, at least I think I remember Ryan saying that

[drop]

I was half expecting you to say it was Davs or, SpikeyMikey or something. Anyway, you quite possibly gained most attention when you were the King of Killzone something like three times on the trot. Aside from that competition, what have you enjoyed that we’ve created on TSA?

Think it may have been four actually.

I’ve taken part it loads of TSA comps, the Dead Nation one where I got a snazzy T-shirt, the Brink comp where I got a DVD, bottle and bandana thingy, the mammoth F1 2010 comp last year, a Dirt 2 tournament. Oh and the Killzone 2 one on one competition where I got a T-shirt, balloons, art book and other stuff.

So yeah, loads of comps I’ve loved being part of.

Yeesh! What a sore winner! Like anyone else was actually counting?

Well, someone has to count! I should’ve kept a ticker going of the number of times I killed you.

If you’d played Uncharted 2 more, I’d have kept a ticker on that as revenge.

I’d have just hidden in a corner somewhere to avoid you, either that or hid behind other people as a form of human shield.

Yes, and then died from a grenade. You said you’re not much one for gaming news, but are there any features on TSA that you like to keep an eye out for, or would like to make a return?

I know everyone says this but Abridged Too Far, or even film versions of that that Lewis puts on ScreenDemon. Aside from that, I like the Community Round-Up and some of the blogs that the guys do.

Who was better at the round-ups? Gazza or me? This is a loaded question.

Oh I can’t answer that, you’re both brilliant! I like the little comments you get when you hover over the hyperlinks, they’re cool.

I like doing those too. I would ask you about the TSAsian (or TSAgent) you’d most like to meet, but with EGX just last week, it’s more appropriate to ask who you most enjoyed meeting? Also you are such a wuss for not choosing.

Well I met loads of people at EGX so it’s hard to say. There was you, Matty, Ryan, Coco, Davs, Murdo, Lewis, halbpro, nofi, Gazza, Cb and a few others. It was fun meeting Ryan and Matty particularly given as I do a lot of gaming and banter with them, so it was nice to do it in person too. If I get a chance I’d like to meet a few others who couldn’t go to EGX like Roy, THL, Manor, Maneorix, Ro6afc11, Tony, Aerobes and loads more too.

I prefer the term incontrovertible, not wuss.

You can be incontrovertible and a wuss at the same time. This would also seem to be the right point at which to ask you who you would Snog, Civil Partnership and Smother out of Peter, Lewis and Kris.

Right, I think I’d smother Lewis, because I don’t have many films so I could nab his, plus I’d be wary of taking him out anywhere as he’d get us in awkward conversations with his outlandish comments. Out of the other two, I’d snog Peter and have a civil partnership with Kris. Not a clue why, I just made a choice.

Well, it’s no less sound a choice than any other. When you’re away from TSA and gaming you are usually found doing… What?

Erm, probably studying like a madman, watching NFL or round a mate’s house.

I would have accepted the first answer on its own. You do study pretty much all the time. Aren’t teenagers these days meant to be avoiding education as much as possible?

Well only if that teenager doesn’t realise that studying generally helps out later in life, but yeah most don’t do that much. I have to study a lot, because I take on more work than most so nearly always have a massive workload.

Are you doing more than the usual number of A-levels?

I’m doing five A2’s, including general studies which we all know is a fake subject but I’m forced to do. So yeah, one more than most. Plus, I’m doing a university module now for funsies.

Yes. “Funsies”. If it all goes to plan, and I don’t see why it shouldn’t, where are you hoping your education leads you?

A job in chemical engineering preferably. One where I get to travel a fair bit and see places I wouldn’t have otherwise.

Formula 1 Fuel Formulator?

Haha, I was tempted to do mechanical engineering, which more leads to F1 than chemical engineering, but decided I find nuclear stuff cooler and I can always keep watching F1 as a hobby of mine.

Well, naturally we all wish you luck in your zealously studious endeavours. Sadly it’s time to draw this interview to a close. Have you any final words for your fans, admirers and nemeses?

Well I suppose it had to end at some point *sobs*. Nothing in particular, apart from saying that I’ve enjoyed gaming with loads of you and you’re all brilliant… And I’m off to eat some pizza hut.

What, like the actual building?

Nah that’d be a bit tasteless I feel, I’m meaning the stuff that’s just handily turned up at my doorstep.

I would carry on being silly, but I know you know that I know what you mean. Also, you’re likely quite hungry. Enjoy dinner.

Thanks again to Spoofer for willingly being interviewed. Next week, a famous duck.

  1. I really do love this feature. I noticed you studying the other day when you asked for a game of F1. I’m only doing 3 A level’s with a Cambridge Pre-U course instead of lousy Welsh Bac. Would be doing 4 but Chemistry was a nightmare for me, just couldn’t understand it at all so dropped it after my average C in AS which took a lot of hard work. The killzone comp was awesome, you would run around and shotgun everyone in the face.

    • Ahh, i see. Is the welsh bac not particularly well respected then? And yeah, the killzone comps were always great fun

      • It’s accepted in most Uni’s but it’s so crap, like design chocolate bar and figure out how to sell it, I’m not kidding. Where as for the course I’m doing instead I have to write a 5000 word essay on a choice of topic, mine being the Permian extinction, more exciting :)

  2. Nice to meet you, Spoofer… nice read

  3. TRAITOR!!!!!!

    • ah you love NFL really, you’re just too scared to admit it!

  4. Nice to spoofing meet you, you spoofing pile of spoofing spoofer. ;)

Don’t worry, i will stop with the spoofing puns now.:)

You may want to sleep with a gun under your pillow as Roy have killed in the past. ;)

    • The whole reply is a spoof….of a reply

  5. Great to see you at EGX Spoof, and well played on the Community Roundup question! :P
I love how casually you say “I find nuclear stuff cooler” after mentioning you’re doing 5 f**king A2’s!

    • i thought i played that rather well too :) And it’s true, nuclear stuff is cool!

  6. Wow, i didnt know you and bacon were brothers. thought you were just mates. happy days. whose ryans brother? and ash’s?? Good read. ive got football at 3 but ill be on f1 and fifa later!

    • I remember Ash’s brother’s first appearance was with an entry to the F1 time trial at the end of last year some point. Been a bit quiet since then…

    • Yea, my brother doesn’t appear too often. He doesn’t have a PS3 at his house, only when he comes round to mine. So doesn’t get to spend as much time online with the TSA bunch.

  7. I had no idea Bacon was your brother Spoof! I do love how you just assumed everyone knew though haha, I cant recall you ever mentioning it!

    Nice interview :)

    • I thought i’d mentioned either on here or twitter, maybe that’s just me being delusional though :D

  8. 5?
5 A Levels is more than most?!
I had to do 9 subjects for my Leaving Cert! :(

    • Yeah most do three or four. A-levels are worth more ucas tariff points than leaving certs which is why i guess we, in general, do less.

      • Damn, I want that system.
I had to do 4 subjects compulsory just to get to Uni- English, Irish, Maths and a language (German).
After that, I had to build up points and do whatever subjects I needed for whatever course I chose (For me, Biology and Chemistry).
The Irish system is seriously outdated. :(

  9. Good interview and nice to meet you spoofer!

  10. great read nice to meet you spooffer
