Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, a new IP, has managed to grab the top spot in the UK charts. Right behind it is FF XIII-2, showing that perhaps people enjoy other genres outside of the first person shooter. We are a bit behind on reviews for these two games, but they are coming.
The Darkness II charts well at number three, which is great because Jim spoke very highly of it in his review. The only other new entry to make it into the top 20 is Catherine, limping in right at the bottom.

Very good to see! How FIFA stays in the top 5 is worrying. Its like everyone buys the game three times.

Ive just got back from Asda where they have that top 20 thing and they had filled the top 1 to 5 slots entirely with FIFA 12 boxes ? I see this all the time in stores and its kinf of suspicious.
Anyway i did a little re-arranging for them and put Metal Gear HD at No.1 and BF3 at No.2 !

Wow, I really didn’t expect Amalur and TD2 to be so far up the list. Both are fantastic games, but given UK gaming trends, it’s a real surprise.

Great stuff. I’m thoroughly enjoying Kingdoms of Amalur, and it’s good to see it’s popped up at the top of the chart.
I have to admit that I’ve seen some shops stocking some titles over others; as an example, HMV had only six copies of Amalur available on release day, and Gamestation had none at all. In comparison, both shops had at least fifty FIFA boxes on the shelves.

Congratulations to 38 Studios and Big Huge Games. Amalur seems like a great game and it’s patiently sitting next to my PS3 until that FFXIII-2 platinum trophy pops up.
