Sainsbury’s Launches Sale, To Increase New Game Stock

It shouldn’t be surprising that other retailers are starting to step into the hole in the UK games market created by GAME’s administration.

Sainsbury’s are one such shop to do so it seems, having announced a sale just 24 hours after GAME closed 277 stores.

Starting tomorrow, shoppers will be able to pick up this range of hardware and software at bargain prices:

  • PlayStation 3 console – £164.99 (was £199.99)
  • 3DS console – £124.99 (was £149.99)
  • FIFA 12 – £26.99 (was £44.99)
  • Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics Wii – £20.99 (£34.99)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – £17.99 (was £29.99)
  • Final Fantasy 13-2 – £14.99 (was £24.99)
  • Just Dance 3 – £14.99 (was £24.99)
  • Mario Kart 7 – £27.99 (was £34.99)
  • Super Mario 3DS Land – £27.99 (was £34.99)
  • Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics 3DS – £27.99 (was £34.99)
  • Black Eyed Peas Experience – £12.99 (was £17.99)

There are arguably some good deals within the selection, perhaps most notably a 3DS console for just £124.99 and Final Fantasy 13-2 for £14.99.

Games manager Gurdeep Hunjan said that the supermarket was also to increase their stock of new games:

“Our breadth of offer is now bigger than ever before and customers can be assured that they can get the most popular games and consoles from us at outstanding value, whilst doing their weekly shop.”

  1. An extra 15% off for me too. Really tempted to buy a 3DS for £106 now.

  2. Do we know how long this sale is going to last?

    • Probably until it ends i would imagine. :P

      • Waheyyy. Very good, very good indeed!

      • Thank you, thank you, I’m here all week. Try the veal. :D

  3. Nectar points too :)

  4. Not really as sale considering most of the games on the list are now at the prices that they should have been a few months ago.

However, the PS3 is a bargain as well as the 3DS. Although, i wonder what model it is? Oh and FF13-2 for £15, that is a deal. :)

  5. Sainsbury’s are not that bad really i.e if you buy a PS3 there & keep the receipt you can change the PS3 within ‘1’ year?! if it goes wrong & they will change it straight away to;)

  6. When it comes down to it, GAME didn’t make enough money (through multiple reasons). The retail industry has shifted quickly with the advent of internet consumerism and they were left trailing. Everyone else will pick up the slack and if there’s a gap in the industry that needs to be filled, I promise there’ll be a business out there that’ll do just that.

Until then, enjoy your supermarkets and websites for games. Simple as that, really.

    • Yeah, Game really should have gone with that ‘Hookers for geeks’ promotion idea that i gave them. I am sure they would still be going strong now if they had.

  7. If I had the money, I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy a 3DS.

    • I’m still holding out for a revised model with dual analog sticks! They are falling into a very tempting price range though.
