Simon Woodroffe Joins Rare

Rare has announced it has appointed former SEGA man Simon Woodroffe as the new Studio Creative Director.

Simon Woodroffe, who has worked at Midway, Ubisoft and as SEGA’s Head of Game Design for SEGA West, has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Simon said:

“Games are my passion and they are Rare’s passion so this is my dream role. I love working with talented and creative people and there are plenty of them here at Rare. I am looking forward to getting stuck into making incredible games that will be worthy additions to the pedigree of the studio.”

Rare is now a subsidary of Microsoft and it is focused on developing titles for the Kinect. Craig Duncan,Rare’s Senior Studio Director commented on the appointment saying, “Simon’s vast experience and knowledge are a fantastic addition to Rare’s strong Design team.”

    • More likely Simon Woodroffe, of “Simon the Sorcerer” fame.
