The EA youtube channel has just posted up a trailer for upcoming shooter Crysis 3. In it you get to see a lot of explosions, a lot of impressive looking baddies and a whole lot of people proclaiming that it is “the greatest looking shooter ever”. Can’t really argue with them, going by the trailer.
Have a look and judge for yourself.
The release date has yet to be confirmed but expect it in Q2 of 2013 at the earliest. Plenty of time for me to forget to play the first 2 then.
Might try this out when I eventually build a new PC for next year (C&C Generals and SimCity, yo!), but until then I’ve got no real interest.
Too many FPS games. It’s getting boring now.
Loved the second, currently playing through the first. This does look like NYC again though – seems odd.
They borrowed rather heavily from the recent Prometheus trailer (which incidentally looks epic) with the strobing video and music/sound at the end of the trailer.

Sooooooo excited about Prometheus.
Lets hope it’s a return to form for Scott and for the Alien universe. I was knocking about when they were filming at the Old Man Of Storr on Skye and couldn’t help but get a bit excited about the prospect of this film :)
So it is in the Alien universe now then?
It looks great, but was really getting annoyed with the “it is canon to the alien series”, then “it isn’t canon to the alien series” & “It is a prequel”, then “it isn’t a prequel” debacle.
I love the Alien movies & wouldn’t mind a new one at all, but if it is based on the Alien universe then they just need to go with that.
Similarly, if it is not based in that universe, make it about something else & don’t re-use old assets that were initially intended for an Alien prequel.
It’s based in the Alien universe. It is not a prequel to Alien. Separate story with its own arc which just so happens to reference elements from Alien canon. Like the Space Jockey, Weyland-Yutani, androids etc.
Fair enough – As long as they have decided, then i am happy.
I don’t know whether it was just a case of no-one could really decide upon what it was going to be, whether some people were just guessing, or if it was deliberate to try & dispel leaks, but i have heard all of the above statements i mentioned from people being interviewed that were working on the film.
Go figure!
