The last time Microsoft focused on anything but games Dan nearly died. I’m serious, I’ve never seen anyone look so utterly shit in the morning, and walk so damned slowly through That London – it freaked me out. Sure, it was probably the dodgy food more than Microsoft’s new found love for that horrible dashboard, but – still – it wasn’t pleasant.
Either that, or we drank that one bar out of wine.
You know, I love Microsoft and I think the Xbox 360 is a wonderful console. I just don’t like the dashboard and I don’t like my consoles cluttered with stuff I’ll never use. Opinions, eh?
However, it looks like their E3 conference this year might be a similar tale, judging by Michael Pachter’s comments on the latest Bonus Round over on GameTrailers. “They told me don’t expect a lot of game stuff,” he said, talking about Microsoft. “Expect a lot of dashboard, interface, multimedia.” And presumably not a great deal about games.
Hopefully they’ll still show Halo and Forza. Oh, and Black Ops 2.

SOUNDS LIKE A RIGHT OLD LAUGH! CHRISTMAS HAS NOT DISAPPOINTED THIS YEAR!
Sympozium
Shame, I guess it would be the same stuff as before.
david24
sounds like more evidence towards a new console to me.
Sympo
Then they could done it by 2010 really. Expect video gaming exclusiveness using Kinect, more kids, more tv apps and the usual big franchise from the Microsoft extraordinaire!
skibadee
they are losing the plot it is a games console multimedia should come second.
Sympo
Thats bueno, I agree.
Watchful
In the US (I haven’t seen figures for Europe) most Xbox hours are spent watching DVDs or streaming media. So for many Xbox users games already come second through their own choice.

Shame to hear this is likely to be another year of minimal 360 exclusives and more unwanted apps, etc to cluter up the dashboard :( Still, hopefully Halo4 proves enjoyable :)

Correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t the 360 a games console and not a fancy box to play dvds and music on?
MS risk losing customers as most people bought the 360 to play games. And i doubt that they want more dashboard interface apps.
All Sony and Ninty needs to do is annouce a ton of exclusives at E3 and they may see some gamers abandon the 360.
halbpro
No, they won’t. Why would anyone abandon at this point? I’d also be surprised of the Xbox suffers heavily, they’re building out the market into other areas. They’ve done very well just by having things like the Call of Duty timed exclusives.

That really sounds like Microsoft tagline now.
“Xbox – Don’t expect any games”
