EA has announced in a press release that SimCity will release in February 2013.
The title, which was first announced at the Games Developer Conference 2012, has since had some controversy surrounding it when statements emerged that the title would require a constant net connection. That was quickly shot down by EA, however they did state that the title would require a quick login to Origin to start the game.

I hated the way battoelog required origin, if I’m playing a console game I absolutely do not want to have to use a pc at all for anything. Stop trying to make me use origin. i don’t want to!

And I just bit the bullet and bought BF3 off origin for $24 bucks. Looks like its here to stay :(
