Uncharted Golden Abyss Devs Still Working On "AAA" Vita Products

More portable Drake?

Sony’s Bend Studio are hiring for another PlayStation Vita title, the developers now clearly working on something after their last title, Uncharted Golden Abyss, took the Vita’s launch to another level.

The job was posted today, and is for a Senior Staff Technical Animator at their Bend, Oregon offices, which employs over 40 staff.

“We just scratched the surface on what the Vita can do with Uncharted Golden Abyss and expect to push the platform even further with our future projects” says the blurb, which describes their target as “AAA products”, suggesting it’s not just one game.

The skillbase points to Havok physics, with plenty of mentions of rigid, mechanical, and organic objects. Hopefully it’s more Uncharted, or perhaps Syphon Filter – that would be a lovely surprise.

Either way, it’s good to see Sony continuing to invest in the platform.

With it being my worst impulse bought item to date, i dont think i could care much for a couple of new games claiming to be AAA, the device is fantastic but the backing is appalling, will take more then a couple of games for me to un dust it now.

Im not sure why but id rather have it dusting away than get merely half of what i payed returned, the money would only go on other junk anyway, i havnt sold a game since selling off my ps2 collection… years ago.

Many people have tried it, apparently very good and actually quite a lot of content for MP. I’ve seen videos on youtube, looks very much like console gaming, very clean and stable.

Patch has sorted out some issues.

People are just being arses trolling the game, for 34.99 and as a person who thinks cod is just some annual hype I actually recommend the game.

I like Golden Abyss – although actually felt it was hampered a little bit by being the first ‘big’ game on Vita and having to use the touchscreen stuff more than it needed to (just to show off the tech).

Would love it if this was Syphon Filter – the PSP games were sorely under-rated in my opinion.

Things are looking positive for Vita heading into next year – big name titles like Bioshock & Killzone on the way, new stuff like Tearaway and now confirmation of a good studio working on stuff.

I also have my fingers crossed for a Gran Turismo Vita game next year. Seems strange they haven’t pushed one yet as it’s one of their biggest brands?

I loved Golden Abyss and their other games (the best Resistance game was a PSP exclusive, the Syphon Filter games) were fantastic.

This is great news! The PSVita needs as much support as it can get. Let’s hope Sony has something at the ready for the japanese market.

Loved the two Syphon Filter on PSP, Resistance Retribution and U:GA so I’m looking forward to whatever they make.
