Saints Row IV: Meet the President Trailer

It’s pretty clear that Saints Row IV is steering as far away from realism (and, thus, Grand Theft Auto V) as possible. Confirming this is this latest, suitably bonkers trailer for the game.

The game is out this year on current gen consoles.

  1. God bless ‘MURICA! :D
I have only played around 3-4 hours of SR3, loved it and will gladly throw my money at Volition again, even though I still don’t like these open world games.
    (Don’t let me down, Watch_Dogs!)

    • I pre-ordered Watch Dogs today for PC … Yahoo !

  2. Looks like Prototype, an equally great game. I’m a little worried they’ve jumped the shark but hopefully it’ll still be fun

  3. It looks okay. But Watch Dogs and GTA V (mainly GTA V though) are what will be taking up all of my open world gaming time later this year.

  4. That looks insanely madness fun Saints Row….. BUY! xD
Looking forward to it and from August onwards will be massive games including PS4 in few months.

  5. looks fun, but i still think it shows it’s origin as an expansion to SR3.

hopefully it’s not gonna be another crackdown 2.

  6. I’ll no doubt play this but as others said I’m more looking forward to Watch Dogs and GTA but more Watch Dogs.

  7. Only recently bought SR3, but it ranks high.
    insane fun.
    looking forward to this title!

    • SR3 was a hidden gem for me – Never played a SR game before, but it was brilliant. Had exactly the madcap mischief that GTA IV was missing.

SR4 will most likely be a day one for me.

      • I really want SR3 but I’m waiting for it to appear on plus (perhaps closer to 4’s release date)

  8. Enjoyed Saints Row 3 (in co-op with Teflon) and I’m sure we’ll hit this one too. Doesn’t rank as highly as Dead Island (for me) but still… enormous fun, at times. Count me in for a purchase but probably when the PC version tumbles a little below the £20 mark.

    • So… A week after release for a PC title? ;)

  9. I have no idea why people still compare Saints Row and GTA. They are nothing alike, and that’s A GOOD THING!!!

This looks like an expansion DLC for SR3. Was hoping for something more tbh.

    • Well, they are.

They are both modern day, third person open world games – that revolve around crime at their core. They are definitely comparable. It’s just that one of the franchises chooses to be more flamboyant and eccentric (as that was the only real route they could go successfully) whilst the other still maintains that little aspect of silliness but keeps the game within reality at the same time.

They’re both good and different in many ways, but yes they can be compared.

      • But there are tons of modern day, third person open world games that DON’T get compared to GTA. This trailer only enforces the fact they are now worlds apart. I think it’s time SR was just judged on itself, rather than always harking back to GTA.

    • Fact is that is WAS DLC for SR3, but they felt that it was quite substantial so decided to release it as a stand alone game branded as SR4.

Plus, they kinda need the money from a full release rather than a smaller price point for a DLC add on (probably more this than the above to be fair).

I actually don’t mind either way, more SR is a good thing no matter how it comes.
