Rumour: Driveclub To Release February 28th

A rumour that originated on Reddit, when the above image was posted, seems to have pegged a UK release date for Driveclub for February 28th. However, the lack of a link to the original retailer makes this for me, a bit suspicious. However, it is the Friday after the Japanese launch where the game is rumoured to be a launch title, and also around the time the March PS Plus update would happen.

So I decided to see what different retailers have the release date set as:

  • Amazon – There is currently no reference to a release date.
  • GAME  – No confirmed release date here either.
  • Shopto – Do have the listing as February 28th
  • Zavvi – Don’t like those odds of an early release going for June 1st 2014 (maybe they’ll send a PS4 too).
  • ASDA – They’ve gone for April 1st though they may just try to be fooling everyone.
  • Tesco – They’ve got the latest date with July 31st.

Though February 28th seems like the most logical option I think the lesson here is to wait until an official announcement, instead of a retailer’s placeholder, though that was a fun little exercise on this cold night. Source: Reddit

  1. I hope its true as I really need a good driving game!!

  2. I really hope this is good… Lol at the advert “only 54.85”.. Bargain /rolleyes

  3. It should be nice and shiny when it is released.

  4. Cannot wait for this game.

Price is still great. I’ve been gaming since I was a little fro.. Been gaming well over 20 years… SNES games were £79.99. I remember Street Fighter 2 Turbo being £100.00.

Games today on the whole are still priced very well….

Even more so if you don’t suffer from DayOneItus like I do. Waiting them out and you could pick up everything for next to nothing if not free via plus….

    • I agree game prices haven’t really changed that much in years and in fact have got cheaper since the days of the SNES and Megadrive, also anyone know if Drive club will still be getting the plus treatment with chance to upgrade to full retail.

  5. Looking forward to this. No way in hell I`ll be paying “only £54.85” for it though!. I’ll trial it on the PS+ version and see how that goes.

  6. I hope it is actually released this soon. Need For Speed just isnt cutting as a racer for me.

    • I get the feeling I’m gonna end up being with you on that one.
I tried it briefly for the first time last night, and so far I’m really disliking the handling.
I was expecting a burnout style handling, but so far it’s nothing of the sort.
      Oh and no pause?? :)

      • Not having a pause function is a massive pain in the ass but it is worth giving a second look to. There is a lot of tension to be built by having 200k+ speed points, a car that is busted up and four cops on your tail while you are on your way back to a hideout.

NFS Most Wanted it is not though sadly.
