NBA 2K13 Online Servers Being Shut Down At The End Of March

2K Games has announced that NBA 2K13’s servers will be shut down at the end on March 31st, 18 months after the game released. The announcement was made on Twitter earlier today with confirmation that after the shut down owners of NBA 2K13 will not be able to play ranked matches.

It’s not uncommon for game servers to be shut down after a while, but it does seem a bit soon for 2K13’s online functionality to disappear. To put that in perspective FIFA 12 which released in 2011 had its servers shut down just this week, while Gran Turismo 5’s servers will be going offline three and half years after being switched on. It could be that demand suddenly dropped for NBA 2K13’s online when 2K14 launched, however there is no official confirmation of that.

  1. Seems server shutdowns are occurring sooner all the time. Though its funny when you think there’s games that released in 2006 that still have the servers up.

    • Yeah and I would have thought this being a pretty big title would be up until the release of 2K15 later this year.

  2. This is why servers … with the option of P2P … is the best idea. At least then people who still want to play the game can continue to do so as hosts. This whole “shut down the game for everyone” trend is bullshit IMO.

  3. Does this mean the whole server is down for good? No more online MyCareer? You can’t even access the MyPlayer Closet without being connected to the server, so all the stuff I had to earn VC to buy is now unusable.

  4. Why are they online association for 2k14 down

  5. It says communication with servers failed
