Sony Reveals Which Racing Wheels Will Be Compatible With Driveclub

Driveclub will be out next week and one thing many have been wondering is what racing wheels the game will support when it launches. Well Sony has announced a list of what wheels you’ll be able to use, though this isn’t final as Evolution are yet to confirm all the compatible equipment. In this initial three though you’ll see that Logitech isn’t supported, at least not yet, but Thrustmaster seem to have a monopoly going on.

  • Thrustmaster T80
  • Thrustmaster T300RS
  • Thurstmaster T500

According to Sony rally driver Sebastian Loeb managed the fastest lap time on a Canadian track in Driveclub, on his first attempt using the T300RS. Both the T80 and T300RS will support Share functionality so you can show off your driving skills, whereas the T500 will not. Price wise I’ve found the T80 for around £70, while the T300RS is available for £250. The T500 is almost £385, so not a cheap addition to gaming set ups.

  1. Crazy stuff not including the G25/G27, not to mention the array of cheaper budget wheels that the more casual racers may want to use. However this is early days I suppose… well, 10 days too early.

I’ve heard the T80 is good in any case. I was thinking about going for that wheel myself one day.

    • Not sure about the T80 but the the reviews I’ve read for the T300 say it has the best force feedback than any wheel that work on consoles, and the quietest too. The bundled 2 peddle set aren’t the best but you can buy a 3 peddle set which are reported to be good or connect ones from T500.

    • T80 doesn’t have an active force feedback system, from what I can remember, and relies on elastic to return to neutral. That’s hardly great in my books.

It’s the T100, which is surprisingly not on the list, and upwards with proper feedback systems.

      • I was mistaken typing the T80, as it was the T100 for about £13 more that I was keeping my eye on. I can’t remember much about the T80, but yeah, I think some reviews were talking about the force feedback and how it was non-existent or naff, or something was wrong with it.

The T100 was the one that seemed ‘good’ for it’s price, though I think a Driving force GT can be bought for around £110 (maybe a bit more).

      • I’m keeping an eye on the T100 to see whether it’s compatible. It may not be listed as it hasn’t got the official PS4 home buttons etc whereas the T80 has if I remember correctly and they’re doing an official DC bundle with it I believe.

      • I’ve got the T500rs and would highly recommend it plus the pedal set is amazing once you set the pressure resistance on them, I’ve had the dfgt & the g27 and the thrustmaster is in a different league

  2. I’m gonna be pissed it if doesn’t support the Driving Force GT!

    • Yeah me too! :(

      • Ditto :-( only got mine for GT6 so not buying a new wheel for this.

    • …not that Sony care about it thanks to Thru$tMa$ter

      • Sorry, only just noticed. Thrustmaster. Ha! Top sex toy name.

      • It’s true – If it doesn’t come with its own ‘specially modified seat’, they are doing it wrong.

      • Hate to break it to yer guys, but the girls have been calling me The ThrustMaster since I was about 12! ;)

      • Misread that at first and thought the girls called you ThrushMaster: all kinds of wrong.

      • Yeah that too!

      • It wouldn’t be the first time customer reaction changes a company’s strategy about something. But, maybe Sony just got a little too arrogant, being in the lead this gen. Looks to me like they got to learn one or two things from MS in this respect.

  3. The lack of Logitech support is down to Logitech not paying license fees for their drivers. Do you think Sony would willingly stop support for the most popular wheel manufacturer?

    • Logitech pulled out of this business segment two years ago.. Thats the real reason. They dont want to include support.

    • That & sony ‘chipping’ the USB ports.

      • There is no ‘chipping’ of USB ports going on. That was a Logitech cover-up to stop us from being mad that they’re focusing on smartphones and keyboards…

  4. Sony just gets quite some bad reactions to this news on their own site. Hope they get people are not willing to buy another wheel for the PS4 if they’re perfectly happy with the one they got.
Looks to me it’s Sony’s problem now, they get all the bad press and have to sort this out.
What a shame not being able to play racing games anymore on a shiny new PS4..!

  5. TM are developing the ‘official’ driveclub wheels, Sony aren’t going to bang on about support of other parties l before the game launches, they need to show some $upport for thrustmaster in the early doors

I imagine post launch Logitech support will come.

  6. Totally not cool ..
Logitech g25 n g27 wheels should be fully supported ….

  7. :(

    No bueno

  8. I’ve decided to buy/(preorder) the T300RS, the brand new swanky iteration which hopefully should satisfy all bases past and present. Been a DFGT user for years, but as needs must ‘n’ all that malarkey can’t be doing with bungee-cord feedback bollocks at my age :P

    • Wish I had your money!

      • Same, I wish I had my money too!! :P
I’ll be using the Shopto Interest free Finance deal to buy the wheel which is nicely affordable over 10 months with a small initial deposit and is available to anyone that of working income and a less than murky credit history ;)

      • I have an interest free (for 36 months!) credit card but I’m trying not to use it for shit like this.

Since it’s not out til the end of the month I’ll give them that long to see if the DFGT gets support.
