Evolution continue to keep working at making Driveclub fully functional, with the online side of the game continually being monitored and updated to accommodate players. While the game isn’t quite working fully for the multiplayer there have been improvements since launch, and in the latest status update Evolution state that the majority of players should be able to connect. However, there is still no word on the PlayStation Plus edition release date, though hopefully that will be this week.
We’re still improving server performance to get all of you enjoying full online connectivity together, but the majority of DRIVECLUB players should now be able to connect and play online.
More server updates and upgrades are coming online over the weekend, so while this work continues you may still experience some issues with connectivity but please keep trying. When you do get connected you can go online, play for your club, use your club cars, play multiplayer races, compete in face-offs, and compare your best times and scores with everyone on the leaderboards. This is in addition to playing in Tour mode, creating your own single events and customising your cars in your garage (which you can do offline too).
We will continue to keep you informed as we make progress and we know we’ve said this before but we mean it: We know how frustrating it is when you can’t get connected and we feel it too. We are working flat out to get online sign-in, multiplayer racing and leaderboards running smoothly for everyone, all of the time.
We can’t thank you enough for your messages of support and feedback during the past week, so please keep talking to us and sharing your thoughts about the game while you play.

What a carfuffle.
I would very much like to simply be able to download the plus edition at the moment to purely play offline.

I’m with you beeje..just want to get the main game.
i rarely take driving games online, much like footy games,i get my ass whooped!

Tried this over the last couple of hours. No dice. Still not working. Continual disconnects, etc.

I played a few online races this afternoon, it took several disconnects before i could get into a race but thankfully no disconnects while i was actually racing. Based on the few occasions i’ve attempted to play online since i bought the game, connectivity seems to have improved a little and i’m also enjoying the club aspect – now that i’ve joined one. They clearly still have some work to do though.

I’m connected for the most part, but it’s still am awful experience. Points are getting added to the club which is cool but friends leaderboards after races don’t load and where are the challenges? They’ve just blocked them off, not even possible to use them at all.

When they initially launched DC and all the server hoohar erupted my though was that the number of servers may not be large enough, but also that the amount of data transfer and the frequency of that transfer would appear on the surface to be quite large. Not only is that game doing the usual mix of correlating where the cars are, who’s pressed the accelerator/brake/steering, what they’ve hit and what the consequences are but, they’re also tracking what would appear to be a large number of challenge times, stats and flags, and that these are then shared amongst all on that particular race, all in your DriveClub club, all on your friends’ list and all across the game’s player base. This would appear to be an awful lot of information pinging around on top of the core gameplay mechanics and so, to lighten the load it would not surprise me in the slightest if Evolution decided to switch off a number of the “challenges” functions.
Ouninpohja
Yeah. As mentioned above, the challenges are the one thing I’m most interested in to be honest.
On another note. Why hasn’t the complete weather system they promised been implemented yet either?
double-o-dave
Think they original stated the weather update was due 2 weeks after the release, so I’m guessing it’ll probably get released 2 weeks after the whole server thing is sorted.
I’d rather temporarily have the challenges working over online races too.
Pixel_nme
The challenges actually made an appearance for me in the early hours of Saturday morning i think it was and around 3/4am,it failed each time i tried to send anyone a challenge though i’ve actually found the game seems to work better in the dead of night lol.
yiddo
They actually never said two weeks after release. They said before the end of the year. Vague I know, but it’s not coming for awhile yet.
double-o-dave
I’m sure they mentioned the patch was due 2 weeks after… I’ll google it. If I’m wrong, I won’t comment. If I’m right, you’ll get a big I told you so! ;)
double-o-dave
A quick look on google tells me some other people thought the same in comments but I can’t see it stated by Evolution anywhere. This leads me to think it may have been said during some video conference thing in Europe. I remember some British chap talking and changing the weather whilst some woman was interpreting in Spanish or something.
I’m sure I didn’t make it up as I was looking forward to it. :)

The biggest challenge seems to be the AI. Its absolutely shocking. You can be in front one second, rammed from behind and sent straight to the back. The online is no better. The impact off the other cars needs to be reduced for you to have a chance. Currently its just a game of luck in the end result which i hope they sort out soon.
Another problem notice was on one of the tracks you had to get around in a clear run. I went straight to the back of the race to avoid damage and get my clear lap in. Once done it was too easy to catch the other cars. It was as though they slowed down for me to catch up with them. not sure if anyone else has noticed this.
freezebug2
I’m not sure whether the AI are of the ‘follow a pre-determined path’ dumb brigade, but normally it’s just a case of learning their all too familiar route and employ deviation as required….don’t actually own the game (and/or) console yet so just trying with a possible helpful suggestion. :?
double-o-dave
I found the AI to be a little too aggressive at first, but once I learned the tracks & how to take the corners better I don’t get knocked around so much. I couldn’t even get 1 star on the Legend Trophy races & got knocked around everywhere but after I learned the tracks a few races later I came first on all 3 races and got 9/9 stars.
They could definitely do with reducing the impact in the online races though as I found unless you can get ahead at the beginning it’s just luck that determines whether you come in the top 3 or last. I was in 2nd place last night ’til someone flew into me on the last corner, there was nothing I could do about it and ended up last. It was bloody annoying.
I think my online fun is going to come from the challenges. Does anyone know if it’s possible just to race against friends?
yarg2k7
Thats the problem i have can be so annoying. may be possible to just race against friends if you have the maximum players you can get on each track. just racing against one would do me no although like others its good to get the practice in before the others join.
Does anyone else tend to roll to the sides when turning corners or is that just me. Im gonna cause myself an injury. I could do with a bucket chair in front of the tv.
double-o-dave
My mate noticed I started doing that after a few beers oddly enough.
Ouninpohja
Yeah I went back and did this one yesterday, and did exactly the same as you on the first lap. And it was as if they’d intentionally slowed down to avoid getting too far behind.
Think it was called the Scottish Challenge event,or something along the name of that?
yarg2k7
Yes that seems to be the case. Noticed that they seem to go on a predetermined route which doesn’t make for great gameplay when your boxed in between a bunch of cars. Sometimes feels like demolition derby than a racing game. I just hope when it goes live people on your friends list will treat each other with a bit of respect and make the game a whole lot more enjoyable.
xIONx
They won’t. So far I have raced what can only be described as the dregs of the gene pool. The races still intermittently quit out for me and it seems a lot of other people too or they are rage quitting after the initial squabbling in each race.
So many people are obviously trying to take you out while racing that it isn’t even funny. Anyone who has ever watched Police Interceptors (where I glean most of my knowledge and morals not just in driving, but life, love and scone baking) knows a gentle nudge to the back corner is all that’s needed and they don’t even get penalised for it.
So frustrating.
I also need a club to join or people to join mine :D

oh yeah. Spaces in between baby, spaces… In.. Be… Tween.
Crazy_Del
You can race with friends there is a team racing for 6v6 Red vs Blue although you can try do solo but chances are there will be 6 randoms or maybe even just 4 since you cannot try get 10/12 friends racing only 6 in a party. But I think Team Racing might just do ok.
The AI are aggressive and they do not shunt you like in online more like rubbing you for blocking the turn or a small shunt from behind to scare you like in competitive racing in general (well I saw few movies that did that lol) and AI doesn’t touch you when you make a clean pass. The Multiplayer they are more likely to knock you off the road when attempting to make a clean pass. Evolution switched off the challenges to fix the server issues and probably the PSN plus editions. I also noticed a few glitches like this speed challenge at 2178mph, when it is in fact a drift score! Seen quite a few of these throughout online races.
double-o-dave
Yeah, I saw a speed challenge at 1032mph last night. Not even Paul Daniels could get a Zonda to do that speed and he’s a wizard for gods sake!

so, any chance us plus subscribers can get to play it this week then?
