Fallout 4 has closed out Bethesda’s first E3 conference and some new details have emerged, including that the game’s opening will take place before the bombs dropped. The location of Fallout 4 is Boston, like the leak last year suggested. It’s also the character creation screen, where a husband and wife are going through their morning routine. A baby is also created using the parent’s looks.  The protagonists are also voiced, a first for the Fallout series. Fallout 4 is set 200 years after the bombs drop, with events happening that cause your character to become the sole survivor of Vault 111.

Fallout 4 also features contextual dog commands, where you can tell the dog to do things such as grab an item or explore just by looking at it and pressing a button. There is now an armour layer for the character so damage won’t destroy your body straight away. The Pipboy also makes an appearance and this one has tapes for it, including game tapes so you can play games in Fallout 4. That’s not all as the Collector’s Edition will have a Pipboy included in which you can put your phone. The point of that phone holder is so you can download the Pipboy app, and walk around with the stats on your arm. You don’t need the Pipboy to get the app though. The app itself will track your character’s in game stats.

Fallout 4 will also allow players to gather scrap from the world and create your own settlement, which will eventually lead to other people moving in including traders that have special loot. You can wire up defences, like turrets, to push back raiders that will target your locations. You can also set up brahmin trade routes between your settlements. There will be 50 base weapons and 700 modifications to really customise your arsenal. Power armour can also be modified to help defend against the dangers of the Boston wasteland. Game will be playable in first person and third person, with VATS giving more control over slowing down time and targeting enemies. Flying vehicles have also been confirmed, and will be used as weapons platforms so you can fly over groups of enemies.

Fallout 4 will be releasing November 10th on PS4, Xbox One & PC

  1. I’ve never played ay of the previous Fallout games, but I’ll be damned if that conference hasn’t completely won me over for Fallout 4. A spectacular showcase for the game, the scale is simply incredible. Very impressive indeed!

  2. Awesome news – it’s November! Now how to I get through my backlog by then?!? Bethesda what were you thinking!

  3. this year, you can play as a woman, and loads of customisation options.
    hell yeah.

i have a feeling the child will also make it out of the vault at some point, why go to the effort of generating a child based on the looks of both parents if he or she will die early in the game.

i’d guessing they get out of the vault a few years earlier than the main character and are living above ground somewhere.

and you’ll discover they’re alive at some point.

anyway, i’m looking forward to messing about with that house building.

    • oh, and i definitely want one of those Pip Boys.

    • But, you could /always/ play as a woman. In every Fallout game. This isn’t a surprise or a feature that is new.

  4. How good does this look! There goes another few hundred hours of my life ;)

  5. With so many big games getting released (and we’re not finished yet, could be more tomorrow), I can see more than one delay happening.

  6. Please don’t be buggy on ps4, we all know Vegas & 3 was nightmare on elm street

  7. Damn! I think I need to go on media blackout for this, otherwise a lot of it could be spoilt.

Shame it’s not released a tad earlier though, I’ll only get a fortnight to play it before I’m off on my hols.

  8. Can we fast forward to 10th of November now please. I so want that collectors edition so I can have my own Pipboy but I want the digitally so I can never get rid of the game. Should I just but both. Hmmm decisions decisions. As you can tell I’m not hyped for Fallout 4, much.

    • And miss out on the fantastic British summer?!

Ah why not, it’ll probably be a washout anyway! :)

      • Don’t you dare. We’ve just started feasting on British strawberries and they’re great already. Patience, you lot. Patience! :-)

  9. I wasn’t expecting it that soon – awesome!

  10. This looks ridiculously good!
Thank Heck that they’re not releasing it in a year or two..I absolutely can’t wait to get stuck into this.
The shitty thing is that it only gives me two months to rinse MGSV.

    • I wish more publishers would do this, I can’t be doing with them announcing games and then having to wait years for them to actually arrive… by which time your enthusiasm has usually waned and the inevitable discussions about visual downgrades or it not being what they announced etc taking over any discussion of the title.

A nice short process of announce, up to 6 month marketing blitz, release – perfect, well done Bethesda!

      • Absolutely!
They’ve got a core following of fans who are very eager to see what they can do on the newer generation of consoles and they’ve done something about it, not sat on their arses for years with no inclination of ever fulfilling fans’ wishes. Like rather than letting Fallout 4 turn into a joke like Agent, The Last Guardian or Half Life 3, they’ve just gone “Fallout 4? Yep that’s a thing..here you go!”

That is how games should be done.
