Sony have updated the US PlayStation Blog’s FAQ page for PlayStation VR and let slip that a minor revision to PlayStation VR is inbound. There’s no details on when exactly it will release in the US or any other region, as the blog says they will “share details on the launch timing in North America at a later date,” but the pricing of PSVR and its bundles will remain the same.

When it does arrive it will allow for a pair of stereo headphones to be integrated into the unit itself, which will greatly ease with which you can simply pop the headset on, and  the Processor Unit breakout box will now support HDR passthrough, which was a surprising system limitation at launch given Sony’s push for HDR gaming. The headset itself will not display HDR, however, and so HDR is only passed through when the unit is in standby. Disappointingly, Sony have changed the cabling between the original and the updated headset meaning early adopters cannot upgrade their Processor Unit and will still have to fiddle with cables to get HDR gaming.
If you want to pick up the newer model when it’s released, you’ll have to check the box to see that you’re getting the right one. The product artwork will be updated to show the integrated headphones, but you’ll want to make sure the model number is CUH-ZVR2 instead of CUH-ZVR1.

Not really bothered. Unless it’s wireless then I would be interested. The one I have already does it’s job to scare visitors

I don’t know why the pass through box didn’t support HDR in the first place. Luckily my TV has plenty of HDMI sockets so it’s just a matter of swapping cables at the back of the console.

It’s good that they’ve added the HDR passthrough but it’s a shame that there isn’t an option to just upgrade the box.
