ModNation Racers Has Split-screen

In a move that is sure to excite retro racing fans, Mat Thomas from United Front Games has popped up over at the official PS Blog confirming that upcoming ModNation Racers will feature some awesome split-screen action.

Two players can even go online together and concoct up some nefarious strategies together, while – for the real old-schoolers out there – four-way offline split screen goodness is provided. What if only three players want to jump in? The fourth screen becomes a helpful track map. All this is in conjunction with the standard 12 player online races available.

In the comments section of the post (AKA the treasure trove of secret reveals), Mat also confirms that private races can be set up if you and a loved one fancy taking on a fellow couple. VOIP support is also confirmed so you can talk smack to/at them.

Finally, what if you’re a bit crap at making tracks or would rather not have to test your mettle on what will surely be an endless collection of user-generated monstrosities? Fret not, as the game ships with 28 developer made tracks. You know, the good ones that don’t merely resemble a donut and are covered in sheep.

ModNation Racers is out in May exclusively on the PS3 – read our full preview for more.
