Sony To Reveal 500GB PS3?

With new hardware reveals a possibility for Sony at E3 and new PS3 models having already been through FCC certification, what do you get when you add the two together?  If you are an “industry source” talking to CVG it adds up to a new PS3 in a Move bundle.

The new PS3s are said to feature a choice of 250GB or 500GB HDDs and finally support the faster WiFi standard 802.11n rather than just the slower 802.11b/g that the PS3 has had equipped to date.  Obviously to benefit you would need to have an 802.11n router too.

Whichever size of HDD you pick the PS Move is said to come bundled.  While there is no mention of how many controllers or sub-controllers the bundles will include we should be safe to assume that a PS Eye will be in the box.  Guess we are likely to find out for sure tomorrow.

  1. all i can think about is the price on this

  2. Already got one :D

  3. If the price is better than buying the smallest capacity PS3 and upgrading it then maybe, but otherwise… nah.

  4. Damn Wireless N, that’s pretty much a must have… that’s the biggest problem with my Slim, because once I get the new iPhone my house will be 100% N apart from the PS3 forcing the network down to G, I’ll probably have to run some CAT cabling behind the skirting-board or something.

Although they can make the wireless whatever they want the network store still downloads from a DOS server in Angola connected to the internet via a 14.4K modem

  5. IDK for what its worth (if infact worth anything at all) my local walmart has started putting PS eyes on clearance. dont really think its move related but I found it slightly interesting in a conspiracy theory kind of way.

  6. Ive got an N+ wireless router, so this would be great. Plus, it would give me some peace of mind rather than worrying about my 60gig launch PS3. Will hopefully see if there are any trade in deals.

  7. i have a 40GB and i could do with more but im mananging amazingly with my 40 i have 10 gb free at the moment and i dont see myself filling all of that soon

    • This is not sarcasm, but genuine congratulations. That’s a fantastic feat! My 320GB is filling up nicely (only 144GB free out of 298GB).

Unfortunately more games – such as Bayonetta, Split/Second – seem to be taking HDD lots of space; this to speed up load times, etc. so your frugalness may not last, through no fault of your own.

  8. If there providing move then how many controllers would you get since you’ll want several, ideally with sub-controllers too; and several dualshocks as well of course! (The cost makes me shiver – if only there was a way to do it without a controller and just use your own body!!)

  9. 500GB? Wouldn’t use all that in years.

  10. awesome news, mines on its last legs and didnt get round to conning argos out of a slim yet
