Joe Danger Breaks Even

Hello Games’ Joe Danger is a brilliant example of what’s possible with digital downloads, scoring an incredible 9/10 here on TheSixthAxis.  Thankfully, it appears most of you agree with us and splashed the cash on one of the PS3’s best PlayStation Network titles.

That has meant, according to news from Develop, that the game has ‘broken even’, a feat the motorcycle stunt title did at launch, according to Hello Games’ Managing Director Sean Murray.  Joe Danger sold 50,000 copies in its first week on sale when it launched mid-June.

Impressive indeed for a team of just four (rather lovely) people.

  1. Maybe it’ll rock up on PSN+ now, a wasted tenner is all that’s holding me back from buying it.

    • And therein lies the problem with the PS+ business model – surely it has a negative effect on launch day sales which surely must effect developers making games for PSN…

      • I completely agree. I’m intending not buying much on the store now unless it’s an absolute must have, and just hoping it’ll be on ps+ soon. although with only 12 full psn games a year it’ll be a bit hit and miss!

  2. Hats off to the little man :)

  3. wow thats good for them! A good thing for doing it on release day too!

  4. Brilliant. Really nice to see something like this do well.

  5. Massiveley in the minority but I really didnt like it.

I’m never buying a PSN game again without a demo. Flower was (IMO ofcourse) crap and I really didny enjoy Joe Danger, it was too boring and limited for me.

So thats £20 on PSN games I’ve wasted. Hmmm critics arent always right I guess!

    • Shame the PSN doesn’t have compulsory demos for PSN content like the Xbox does for the XBL Marketplace

      • Definitely should at least be a PS+ feature. Along with speedier downloads. I’d buy it just for those.

  6. It’s a really good game, fun, great graphics, and fantastic gameplay. These 4 guys deserve the success they’re having.

  7. Not tried this yet *holds head in shame* but I’m of the old skool where great graphics are not the most important thing, playability is and most PSN titles offer this is spades, so this’ll be next on my list I reckon?
