Microsoft have just announced the pricing for Kinect here in the UK. There’s two bundles – a console, Kinect and Kinect Adventures for £249.99 and without the console for £129.99.

“Get all of your controller-free entertainment in one complete package,” says the press release. “This includes the all-new Xbox 360 4GB console, the revolutionary Kinect sensor and the Kinect Adventures game.  In Kinect Adventures, you’ll get to navigate roaring rapids and mountain-top obstacle courses, and experience numerous other adventures in exotic locations.”

More than 15 games will be available at launch – Kinect games, including Kinectimals, Kinect Sports and Kinect Joy Ride, will retail for £39.99.

“Kinect for Xbox 360 offers fantastic new ways to be entertained for the whole family,” said Chris Lewis, vice president, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Europe. “With full body, voice and multiplayer play straight out of the box, Kinect is a unique way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment.”

  1. “the all-new Xbox 360 4GB console”

    *snigger*

  2. It’s really hard to see who this is aimed at. The price is too high for casuals and the technology & games don’t look suited to the hardcore gamer. I just can’t see this competing with the wii. Sony has played it smarter, becausee the Move seems to be designed to cater for hardcore games aswell as the more casual family/party type games. I think the Move is going to do well now that it isn’t going to be competing for the exact same market share as the Kinect & Wii.

  3. Do you people not realize that the 4Gb Arcade model is replacing the 256mb Arcade model? That is a significant jump. The Arcade SKU has been very successful for MS and that was before you could use a memory stick or external HD with it.

Everyone says how accessable Move is because you can buy in cheep and then upgrade as you go along (i.e buy 1 Wand now, another later then a navigation controller etc etc) but refuse to see that that also applies to this. Obvisouly MS are goin to release HDDs for the S model as they did for the orginal model.

360 sales had a big jump when when released the arcade unit, what makes you think that this wont appeal to that same exact market? As a matter of fact, i’ll be getting one to replace my sons’ Arcade unit and using a 16 gig memory stick with it (i already purchased the 250 gig model to replace mine).

Is 4 gig’s suitable for core games who purchase lots of XBLA games and DLC, no, obviously not. Is that who this SKU is marketed towards, no, obviously not. And it can be upgraded.

  4. 4GB! Now how would you ever fill all that up?
I’ve just got my new 500GB HDD for my PS3, and now I’m wondering if I’ve got it all wrong…
