Releasing today on the US PSN (and tomorrow on the EU Store) MotorStorm 3D Rift is a stand-alone MotorStorm title allowing fans to experience ten tracks from Pacific Rift in retina-searing 3D.
For those who haven’t won the lottery/offed a rich aunt, the game is also fully compatible in archaic, it-was-good-enough-when-I-was-growing-up 2D, presenting a good primer to the full Pacific Rift game.
Priced at $9.99/€12.99/£9.99*, it’s a stonking good deal – especially if you have an aforementioned TV capable of firing three-dimensional polygons at you. It’s not all good news, however, as this is literally a beefed up demo. Don’t expect trophies or anything but offline races.
Then again, if you’re looking for a good candidate to show off your new 3D technology, MotorStorm 3D Rift should fit the bill. Until the raft of other 3D titles arrive, of course. Â Here’s a look at the action.

Samsung 55″ LED. It was like 3grand >.< did come with a 3D blu-ray player though. For me, just the LED picture alone is worth a huge chunk of the money- it's stunning. The 3D is very cool, although we haven't used it that much. (SSDH is fantastic though!)
I'm not sure what I would advise anyone going to buy something like this – it is a hell of a lot of money, and there isn't really a great deal of content out yet, although lots on the way (KZ3 and GT5 – excite!) but for me personally – yes it was worth it, it's cool as f**k <.<

Woop! Be purchasing this me thinks! Whats all the ‘if you won the lotto/have a rich aunt’….when exactly has buying a new LCD/LED/Plasma been a cheap thing anyway? You say it as though 3DTV’s are more expensive then these sets, they aren’t! If your buying a new TV..you might as well buy one which is 3D..so your future proof!
Theres also a 3D Game trailer on the US store too! Very cool! Every future 3D game looks brilliant!

Sorry but 3D sets ARE more expensive. Sure there are 3D tellys cheaper than some 2D ones but if you compare like for like, of course 3D is more.
Example:
SAMSUNG PS50C6900 50″ 3D Full HD Plasma TV = £1499
SAMSUNG PS50C450B 50″ HD Ready Plasma TV = £597
Those are two very similar sets with only 3D really differentiating them. The 3D model is well over twice the price

the 3d one is a series 6 , while the standard 2d one is a series 4, also the standard is HD ready, not full HD.

There’s a massive difference between those two sets, the 4 series you’ve mentioned to is bottom of the range.

WTF since when does $9.99 = €12.99/£9.99?! Talk about a conversion malfunction! I can’t wait to see poor Mike Kebby bombarded by complaints on his store update tomorrow!
Normally $9.99 = €7.99/£6.29, or if they’re being harsh $9.99 = €9.99/£7.99, but to actually have it more expensive in € than in $ is just ridiculous!
It’s crap like this that makes me wish we used a points system for purchases…

Sorry, but this is completely stupid.
MS:PR is a great game, but here they’re chopping it up and butchering the whole experience by offering it piecemeal.
What they SHOULD be doing, if they really want your money still, is making a 3D patch for the full game paid for (then have it sit in the XMB but require the BD to be in the console in order to play).
Doing it like this is ridiculous, but is a little way for Sony to get some money out of it without breaking their “3D patches are free” rule.
There’s not even any online functionality here…

I’m sure this will be a good game if you don’t have it before, with 3D. But I can’t help thinking Sony are chucking these out just trying to make a quick buck from 3D. This, as they say, can be added to games, so why not just patch the full game? Even if it was just a few tracks/vehicles?
