2010 Golden Joystick Awards

The results for the annual Golden Joystick Awards are in and they are predictably dull if I’m being totally honest. Bet you can’t guess which game won ‘Best Shooter’.

The only real surprise is Assassin’s Creed II beating Red Dead Redemption, congratulations to the team at Ubisoft. The full list of winners follows – be warned the phrase “in association” is used rather a lot.

  1. Wait, is this the one that people voted on…?

    • Yes. The general public has no taste and is thick as pig shit (TSA readers not included, you’re all fab ‘n’ clever ‘n’ stuff)

      • Whaat! I woulda thought somebody would have voted Uncharted 2..Or am I imagining that it was released last year. Anyway shame on you general public!

      • Let guess only americans voted and they all had xboxs.
where is heavy rain,Bioshock, where is the god of war collection. Surely i can’t be the only one to notice that it mostly xbox exclusives that are winning.

      • No, it’s purely a UK offering.

      • You do realise that only 2 Xbox exclusive titles won right?

  2. Trying to win RPG of the year with Fallout 3: GotY edition seems a bit odd.

  3. Puzzle Game Of The Year in association with NGamer
    Winner: World of Goo

That came out years ago? These awards are stupid.

  4. How the hell did AC2 beat Red Dead?!? RDR is the best game released in a long time, Castlevania should have been in with a shout as well.

    • I agree with you ! Red Dead is one of the best games I’ve ever played! and it has the best OST, some stunning moments with music.. Crossing into Mexico, anyone?

      • Spot on, don’t forget the trip back to Beecher’s Hope. Truly brilliant, brilliant game.

As for the Undead Nightmare pack…well, couldn’t stop smiling. How can a game be so serious yet have its tongue so firmly in cheek?!

  5. GT5 would be the beat forza next year

  6. have they just excluded ps3 exclusives, one to watch i would think GT5 should be there, best RPG, demons souls has to be up there and best shooter mw2, tbh i havnt played bfbc2 but surely its better than mw2, and read read should have one action adventure in my opnion, poor results

  7. I’m quite happy with these. Ok there’s nothing unusual in there, and no ps3 exclusives, but on the whole i agree. Ac2 beats rdr in my book any day, don’t know why, i love the western genre, but rdr just didn’t grab me. Think it’s because i’ve played every Gta ever, and it’s just exactly the same as all of them, only a little dusty. Ac2 on the other hand was fantastic. Also, to all the people on here saying bc2 was better than cod, that’s an opinion, but looking at sales and how many people still play each game, i’d say it’s the minority opinion.

  8. Should only ask hard-core gamers, then the true winners, would win

  9. i think the awards should be intergrated into the psn and live so we can vote direct from our consoles
