Splinter Cell HD Re-Releases Confirmed

Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, has confirmed that the much rumoured HD re-releases of the first three Splinter Cell games are on the way.  This follows in the footsteps of the PoP games, and is bound to please fans of the franchise.  Back in the day it was always Splinter Cell vs. Metal Gear in a battle of the stealth games, so come on Konami, how about a HD Metal Gear franchise update to reignite the war?

Platforms and timeframes weren’t mentioned.

  1. I’ve missed out on these, will have to check it out – although I prefer shooting people to sneaking around.

    • Snap! I tend to take the more gung-ho approach as well. I absolutely hate it when a game forces you to be a bit stealthy & if you get caught you have to start the whole section all over again as it loses the whole immersion of it anyway – Just let me shoot my way out please.

      • Same… when I try to be stealthy, it lasts for about 5minutes before I get bored and want to just blow everything up :) I’ve been told these really are excellent games, and I may be more tempted to try it with polished graphics (tried playing the original PS1 classic as my partner downloaded it to the PS3 a long time ago – it looks nasty on a big TV lol)

      • Ahh scratch that comment – for some reason I read Splinter Cell as Syphon Filter >.< stupid!! I haven't played any Splinter Cell games ever :x

    • Yes but you can buy loads of game where you just shoot at stuff. In splinter cell you get to hang off a pipe by your legs, reach down and snap your victims neck :)

  2. I love the SC games, especially the last gen trilogy, I will have to pick these up for sure.

    • Exactly. I still have to play to the end of SC1 and the whole SC2. And with trophies? I’m sold.

    Love all the SC on PS2, especially Pandora Tomorrow. The ‘Swat Turn’ was just awesome….

  5. Yeah more Classics. :) Never played,Gow games,sly games,PoP games,ico and shadow of collosus,Mortal combat games.

  7. Any news on whether it will be HD versions of the Xbox or PS2 vesions? If it’s the PS2 versions I think I’ll stick with my xbox originals.

  8. Wait a second, will chaos theory be included then? and even if it will, double agent won’t will it?

    If so, Chaos Theory… Online?! dude, it better have!

      Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

      It wouldn’t make sense adding double agent because, to my knowledge, you can already get that on the PS3/PSP.

      • That’s right u can. It was released back when they were releasing the same games on ps2 and ps3! I had it on ps2 so maybe it’s time to find an old ps3 copy and see how it compares…

  10. This might be one of the only HD collections I will miss out on. I like the SC games, but not enough to double dip I’m afraid.
