Oh, I’m sorry, were we supposed to be surprised? During the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards, EA has finally revealed the long-awaited (and heavily-rumoured) arrival of the SSX franchise on current-gen consoles in the form of SSX: Deadly Descents.
Deadly Descents will see you take on “every major mountain range” and “battle against the elements”, in a game that looks a lot tougher than the old arcadey SSX titles. Video below:

2011 is going to be a blast! I hope the game doesn’t take things too seriously though. I liked the arcade feel of the first few games.

I was hoping for gameplay. It looks quite gritty though – not like the colourful, bright games of old.

I remember the pinball style levels in the SSX games fondly as well as the crazy tricks you could pull off.
Basically what I think is by all means announce a new Snowboarding game but if it isn’t SSX don’t call it that.
On the other hand it is early days.

This isn’t SSX, and if the Skate controls rumours are true it’s just another SSX, hopefully they’ll do a HD release of SSX 1-3+Tricky and I’ll get that instead

I’ve been wanting a new version of this and Road Rash more than anything else in the world, but to me it looks like a new game cashing in off the SSX name. Still, it’s early days so there’s hope. Although a HD remix of the original trilogy+Tricky would all the more awesome.

I think you got that a bit wrong CC, SSX Tricky was the second game so would be part of the original trilogy.
SSX on tour was the 4th one so i assume you meant the original trilogy plus on tour :)

Truly disappointed with the way EA seem to be taking it. Looks like they think all their money must come from serious, gritty peril-based titles.

This seems more like Black Ops than SSX. Where’s the fun gone? Hopefully the trailer is not indicitive of the gameplay and they haven’t taken all this time to get it so wrong.
