Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in Action

It’s the device that doesn’t exist – the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. Well, it didn’t get much of a showing at the recent CES tradeshow but that’s not stopping people posting up images and poring over more technical specifications that would make Stephen Hawking balk. How about some footage of the Phone in question?

Check out this hands on below where one lucky user got to check out such games as Biohazard (Resident Evil) 2 and Rage Racer on the new device (using an Android ROM emulator no less). Unfortunately there was no need (in these particular games) for the player to use the analogue pad, however.

Like what you see? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks paragers

  1. There’s either a child holding that phone or it’s huuuuuuge !

    • It’s about the size of a PSP Go, which are tiny!

  2. This looks cool, and I’d love to be able to play Minis without lugging my PSP around. My biggest concern is battery life though. My HTC required some tinkering to make it last the day, and that wasn’t running ps games.

  3. Would certainly kill a few hours on the bus to work in the morning, best get saving.

  4. I must remember to keep back some money for this, looks great.

  5. i want one….. i want one now…

  6. Looks really good, I love the idea of having a fully functional phone, and then just slipping PSP controls out the back when I fancy it. If they have decent prices for the games, I’m very interested.

  7. I just dont get this.

It carries the Playstation branding, yet doesnt mention the word Playstation in its name. It has a Playstation controller, yet has less graphical capability than an iPhone by the looks of it, never mind the already aging PSP.

I mean, seriously Sony? Do you like releasing products that are dead in the water before they’re even released? *looks at you PSPGo*

  8. Meh SCE don’t want the Playstation name on it, because they don’t want Sony Ericsson to ruin the brand with their shitness. Can’t blame them

    • That was supposed to be a reply to Rob92

  9. Will it be able to play psp games?

  10. Maybe it’s just me… but it seems rather cumbersome to me. I have a feeling it is probably close in size to the PSP®go, and that thing is WAY too small for normal dude hands. I love the idea… but the execution seems to be lacking to me. :)
