Fillion “Excited” To See Wahlberg As Drake

The comments regarding the alleged casting of Mark Wahlberg as everyone’s favourite treasure hunter in the Uncharted film have been mixed. Some are vehemently opposed to the idea, whilst others think that maybe Marky Mark could actually put in a decent performance.

Fan favourite, Nathan Fillion, is in the latter camp if his messages on Twitter are anything to go by:

“Just watched The Other Guys, and honestly excited to see Wahlberg in Drake’s Fortune. He’s got mad skills.”

So, are we going to give him a chance?

  1. h’es not Nathan Fillion-y enough

  2. He’s not Drake

    • but seriously, its not the actors, if they portray him right its cool, its the story about family etc that i dont like

  3. Watched an advanced screening of The Fighter last night, that performance along with the Other Guys performance makes me feel he could do the role well. My preference would still be Fillion all the way though as he has the Everyman charm and charisma. I echo the sentiments of others though, it’s storyline I’m most fearful of. It should be an Indiana Jones (the first 3!) romp, not some deep family drama

  4. Echoing the sentiments already made, its more the massive liberties being taken with the character and tone that is worrying. Why change something that is loved by so many people so drastically? I quite like Marky Mark, and have never seen Firefly so have no idea what Nathan Fillion is like (apart from having an excellent first name), it was always the general changes that bothered me. Like I said before, it was like the decision to make Constantine an American non-smoker living in LA with black hair. So against the real character you have to wonder if they are just capitalizing off the name.

    • Though I think Mark is a really poor choice for Drake, this is my main concern aswell. It seems to me they’re not even trying to pay the game the respect it deserves, just cashing in on them dollars. It saddens me.

  5. guys its a game to movie conversion so the odds are already stacked against it, i’m just going to expect the worst and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

  6. He could make a good Drake, I suppose, but then I thought he would make a good Max Payne too..

    • The script let that film down in my mind not the actors.

      • That is a good example: he was good as Max Payne, the story however was not.

  7. …noah wyle

  8. I think Mark Wahlberg could be good as drake, if it’s done right. The Shooter is one of my favourite films.

  9. Maybe Fillion realised the script is bad and didn’t feel it worth the risk. I’d love to see Fillion as Drake though with a decent treasure hunting story.. in a perfect world eh..

    • Maybe the studio thought twice about allowing a virtual unknown be the leading man in a $200m movie and Fillion was never in the running except in TSA’s comments section

  10. As much as I like Wahleberg, Pesci and De Niro, I don’t want to see Uncharted be ruled with family dynamics of sorts. We wanna see gunfights, wisecracks T+A from the leading lady ;)

With those three heck they could make a gangster film or summit *shakes fist*
