When we reported that a downloadable version of Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 was to be rolled out, many questioned the need. After all, not only would it take lots of time to download (rumours suggest the download size will be around 12GB), but it would also munch into your valuable hard drive space.
Well, we can confirm that no matter which version you go for, your hard drive is going to take a bit of a battering, as the retail copy of the game requires 4.5GB of space before you can go ahead and play – although the back of the box (above) shows 5.3GB. Our install time ran to a rather unscientific thirty minutes or so, those of you with GT5 will know that these times can vary quite a lot, however.
We spoke to EA this morning who told us that this is due to the large amount of additional DLC and format exclusive content included with the PS3 version of the game, which also features an upgraded graphics engine taken from Mass Effect 3.
We’ll bring you the review very soon.

Better get the teabags ready. Wait a minute, I don’t drink tea!
matthangzhou
I’m genuinely shocked someone doesn’t drink tea. Give it another go!
NotoriousGTT
Try Redbush tea, awesome and caffeine free.

Here’s one more to be shocked about. I’m more of a Hot Chocolate man myself.

Even my 500GB is starting to suffer. Less than 100GB left.
KCalpha
How ever many games/applications/movies do you have on there!?!
Carl
“Far too many” is probably the answer.

Got ME2 for the xbox but i’m tempted to buy it on PS3 for the DLC…maybe when the price comes down. Besides, don’t have enough space on my desk to fit both consoles so only the PS3 is out at the minute.

Simple solution. buy a new hard-drive. I bought a 640G harddrive for £45. Space is no longer an issue for me, at least this generation :-)

M.E is bought day one….. :-)

640GB for the win :D

My poor hard drive it’s going to be full i really need to buy a bigger one

Bioshock 2 took 10-20 minutes to install. so this should be roughly the same. I would make myself a cup of tea but a certain TSA member stole all teabags. I’m looking at you Bmike and Tuffcub.

You nicked all their biscuits.

Only because noone told me there was a TSA members jar. It was very easy to get Nofi’s. I still say that i should get a medal for being the first person to get past tuffcub and stealing his biscuits.

I upgraded my hard drive for GT5 and it installed really quickly, i.e. less than 10 minutes, I assume this is because of its newness so I shouldn’t have much trouble with this if I get the disk version.

hey this maybe the biggest noob question ever but have to ask. I have the 60GB PS3, the original launch one, how do i get a bigger hard drive, is it a matter of jus buying any larger hard drive and connecting through the USB ports or do i have to get someone to replace the hard drive in my PS3? prob a stupid question! ha!
