They’ve a long way to go to make up for the downward spiral the series has been in since FF9, and if I see Leona Lewis or another western pop star or group tacked on as in 13, I’ll never buy an FF title again. This trailer has me hopeful, but I remember thinking the trailers for 13 were good too.

A slight over-reaction to my comments, which are far from childish – simply an old fan of the series who’s been disappointed with their recent efforts stating he will not be buying another of their games again until the quality gets back to it’s previous level.

Things change. That’s what happens in the world. Sometimes for the better sometimes not so much. I don’t see why Leona Lewis poses such a big problem.
As for the series going down the drain since FFIX. Personally I dislike VIII and XII but was happy with XIII.
So it’s more like a graph with ups and downs than a steady decline. Also, the graph looks different for everyone else.
I agree with grogy86 that your comment was at least a little childish since you think that SE has to make up for anything. They don’t. They release the games the way they intended them to be. If you don’t like the new aproach then that’s fine but financially they have a better chance by broadening the audience of their games.

A fair point for the best part; I just dismay at the rot slowly creeping in, the focus on drawing in the casual audience, and the use of a hollow paint-by-numbers pop star as a cheap promotional link when there are some truly talented artists who deserve a chance. The games simply do not have the same level of quality as they used to.
