No North Korean Invasion In Japanese Homefront

To comply with certain rating board guidelines in Japan regarding the portrayal of real persons and countries, Japanese publisher Spike have been forced to remove North Korean leader Kim Jong-il from Homefront’s opening movie in the Japenese version of THQ’s girtty first person shooter. Instead he will be replaced with a “Northern Leader” of “A Certain Country to the North,” which has yet to be specified.

With the entire focus of the game being the North Korean invasion, it will be interesting to see what alternative will be drafted in for the Japanese release. Though several onlookers have jokingly suggested that Canada may now be Homefront’s main antagonist, to avoid any sort of ill-representation, it’s likely Spike will enlist a factitious tyrannical nation.

Homefront is due to launch here on March 11th, and at a later date of April 29th in Japan.

  1. Greenland for sure!

  2. Hmmm, Can’t say I’ve ever heard of this game. Gonna dig some info on it. Like the premise though ;)

    • So I’m not the only one.

      • You guys haven’t heard of Homefront… Where have you been?!

      • …….it’s that state run media! dont know anything about homefront but can tell you about our wonderful and illustrious leader…..

      • …me?…

      • I only heard about it a few weeks ago and watched some gameplay demos and stuff and its one of my most anticipated games now for the year . Its more like a Battlefield shooter than CoD/Unreal Tournament arcadey type of thing which is definitely a plus for me.

    • Clicking on the More tag above, this is TSA’s FOURTEENTH Homefront article.

      Where’ve you been? North Korea?

      • Did you just paste your reply to both me and Kovacs, that’s very lazy you know. :P

      • lol, busted! ;)

  3. So the game’s logo needs changing too? Hmm.
And if the new enemy are north of North Korea that’ll be Russia then – North of America gives us Canada.

But I’d tend to go with “Generic Opposition” being the likely candidate, which seems all the rage these days.

    • The Russians would be the obvious choice. However, look at the character designs; most if the soldiers have Korean facial features so it would be hard to call them Russians.

    • OPFOR lol

  4. Northern Ireland

Just incase it is, I said first! :D

    • Something tells me pipe and car bombs and a few small arms isn’t quite enough to bring America to it’s knees!!

      • well. . . not to get into a big descussion but if you look at iraq it certainly made an impact on them

      • crowbar, some drunken locals
        infiltration through irritation?

  5. thats. . . interesting. hopefully they come up with something imaginative instead of the russians or a vauge title like “the opposing force”

  6. Aliens… Zombie aliens!

  7. Understandable tbh.

  8. They could just have Japan invaded as it had no weapons of mass destruction , seems thats all thats needed to justify an invasion these days anyway.

  9. I bet it’s Sweden.

  10. Kazakhstan? I guess it makes no difference to us but It’s totally understandable, North Korea is a little bit close to home for Japan.
