PSN Goes Down, No Reason Yet

The PlayStation Network has been up and down for a good few hours, but it looks like it’s finally crashed properly.

Nobody knows why yet – at least, nobody outside of Sony, but gamers are being blessed with the error code 80710A06.  Perhaps it’s all part of Valve’s Portal 2 ARG, and we’ve got to find GLaDOS to gain access.

Or perhaps someone accidentally knocked the plug out overnight.

Once we get an update, we’ll let you know what’s going on.

  1. Well I’m leaving my GT5 endurances on B-Spec running while I cut the grass now, ahhhh it’s a nice day out there and a wee break.

  2. I also was having problems for a couple of days, my first sign in attempt never works and usually takes the second try to sign in, sometimes more. Hope this fixes it.

  3. One day in a year the PSN goes down, last year clock thing this year this thing.

  4. Auto sign-in has worked fine for me for the past while, although I haven’t been on PSN a great amount in the last week. There’s post about this issue on the PS Blog now: http://tiny.cc/5vf01

    • Actually, has anyone’s PS3 been acting odd recently after it goes into stand-by? Mine’s been making a low noise, like the fan’s still running slowly, and the wi-fi light is green on the front.

      • This comment has to be a joke -.-

      • Nope, just realised it’s because of remote start. Only enabled it the other day and forgot it was on.

  5. Update on PSN Service OutagesCountries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZAs
you are no doubt aware, the current emergency outage is continuing this afternoon and all Sony Online Network services remain unavailable. Our support teams are investigating the cause of the problem, including the possibility of targeted behaviour by an outside party. If the reported Network problems are indeed caused by such acts, we would like to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service. Our engineers are continuing to work to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers’ continued support.

  6. I just got DS platinum. It’d be funny if my ps3 crashes before I can sync.. Haha…

  7. Bad news lads, turns out the problem may last up to two days…..Look up PS Blog for more info

    • add more bad news to that…
looks like the ps eu blog site may be under attack too, at least i can’t access it & i could 1hr ago.

      • Wow, yeah. Just tried to access the Blog on the PS3 with the result being a blank page and my mouse being able to pass through the boundaries of the browser…

  8. I’ve just been reading posts on the Sony’s official blog that links to anon’s irc.. I expressed, rather VENTED! my feelings and one of them numpties felt the need to reply and just admitted that this is their doing (be it true or not). So now I can’t play Uncharted/Portal 2 on-line and am angry.. not at Sony but at these bunch of lowlife Morons.

  9. ah now another post stating the problem is servers in Japan so I don’t feel angry any more!, but wished I had not spoken to that muppet in the irc.

  10. Don’t know if this has had a mention but I’ve also noticed that my friends list only starts being in alphabetical order about 5 or 6 friends down. Not major but defo wasnt like that a few weeks ago or ever for that matter
