Sony have posted a message on the EU blog which states they still don’t know exactly when the PSN will be back.
I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days.
We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.
In other news, scientists at the State of Ingtheobvious University have discovered that an anagram of ‘The PSN is completely f*cked” is ‘Unchecked files tempt sly op’.
Stay tuned for the TSA for the latest on the PSN crisis, but now over to Carol in the Blue Peter Garden for the weather.*

* It’s becoming increasingly difficult to make ‘The PSN is still offline, we’re sorry’ in to an interesting story so I thought I would take some tips from BBC Breakfast news.

On the bright side……by the time PSN comes back on, it’s security should be tighter than a ducks arse.

It better be with how long they’ve taken on it.

i just checked, and all my psn plus games will expire out in two days.
will i be able to stop that happening if i set the clock back and disconnect my ps3 from the net?
i doubt i’m the only person who’s going to lose access to their games because of this downtime.
this free month, of psn plus, will that be all the plus time we get or will they also give us an extension to our sub equivalent to the downtime?

I thought there was going to be the time the PSN is down for (which is a no-brainer) plus a free month as part of the goodwill gestures.
The ‘free’ month on its own has practically been taken up by the downtime anyway, so its hardly a goodwill gesture and more of a ‘right’

I believe that Sony have switched to valve time or have discovered a new timezone and have switched to that. Sony,if there is nothing worth reporting then don’t. they could just put up an update telling people that they will only update us they find something worth updating.I pretty sure a lot of people wouldn’t mind that.

Sony’s rep is dead…..

If you were holding your breath, you should release now =)

Thing is theyre damned if they dont & theyre damned if they do. If they didnt say anything people would moan, and when they give an “update” people moan too. This is THE largest data theft in history. This has huge implications & repercussions for Sony, not just from consumers & developers, but various government bodies are now raising eyebrows over the apparent lack of security Sony has. If Sony brought up the PSN too early and it got hacked again, it would be end game for Sony for definite. We are already aware various hacking groups have already promised to hack the PSN (some in protest for the PSN being hacked, go figure), so Sony have got to put maximum effort in restoring confidence, otherwise developers will stop making games for the Sony platforms and the masses will move on. Apparently there is a “welcome back” package for developers too.
This has really hurt Sony bad, as well as inconvience the hell out of all of us too. I love my hobby and I dont appreciate someone messing with something that I hold dear that is also quite an expensive pasttime too.

You are right about the ‘damned if they do, damned if they don’t’ part, but i have to disagree with the next part as this is not an ‘update’ – This is more or less stalling tactics. As has been said before, i would prefer if they just gave themselves some time & came out & said “all services will be back up by end of month” (or something). That way they give themselves a bit of elbow room to get what they need to done & if the PSN came back on before deadline, they would just look better in most people’s eyes.
I’s the constant stall tactics & mistruths that are getting on peoples nerves. Granted, some will just be annoyed at the downtime anyway (as they can’t pwn noobs), but i am willing to bet that about 50% of people would be a lot less annoyed if they weren’t constantly being given information that simply isn’t true (such as ‘within the week’ or ‘in a few days’ etc).

I’ve sat here for weeks now unable to use the online content for gt5 or play Battlefield 1943 and said nothing. Firstly I had faith in Sony and secondly to start with the lack of online gaming was not that much of an inconvenience. Weeks later frankly I’m bloody annoyed. It’s fair enough people saying it’s not the end of the world – true but if we weren’t avid gamers we wouldn’t be on sixth axis to start with – and its also fair people saying it’s hardly Sony’s fault. Only it is their fault. True the hack lies at the feet of some “anonymous” group but their security should have been so much better. So should their PR and their restoration of service. This isn’t Mrs Miggins Tea Shop – it’s Sony. Get it sorted and quickly !

So at best case scenario, 3 more days. Which has been the best case scenario since 4/21. How can a company keep telling people 3 more days, and then say nothing for a week, and then say 3 more days. Sony wasn’t capable of meeting the first deadline set by themselves, so what makes them capable of meeting ANY deadline they set. I want to start hearing from these outside security firms, maybe then well get the truth. Does anybody even know who they’ve hired? They say they’re working with the best, but who are they working with, and why can’t we get some info from them. I don’t expect security details, but a company that deales with hacking as a business would be able to provide an accurate time-line for service restoration. As far as I’m concerned PSN and Sony are dead, and somebody (Kaz) should throw themselves onto a sword at E3 for this. I will be buying all my games used from now on… with a smile, knowing that each one I buy is a tiny little payback knife in Sony’s face.

This is starting to wear a little thin….just like my patience.

Has given me chance to play some single player games and get some extra trophies but it’s about time PSN was sorted, its been nearly a month now.
