SCEE’s ‘Welcome Back Programme’ Detailed

A post on the EU PS Blog has gone into detail as to what gamers can expect from Sony once the PlayStation Store has been restored, which we’re assuming will be towards the end of the month.

First up you can choose two of the following PS3 titles:

And PSP owners can choose two of the following:

In addition there will be 30 days free PlayStation Plus for those who have yet to subscribe, and 60 days free for those who are already signed up. Music Unlimited subscribers will get 30 days free.

Of course, there are a few terms and conditions:

  1. “For eligibility for the welcome back programme consumers must be an account holder on 20 April 2011. Specific details about these offers and eligibility requirements will be posted as the services go live. All existing PSN registrants have 30 days from when the welcome back programme goes live to redeem their content.
  2. For the German market, InFamous and Dead Nation will be replace with Super Stardust HD and Hustle Kings in the selection of PS3 games.
  3. For the German market, Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation will be replaced with Everybody’s Golf 2 and Buzz Junior Jungle Party in the selection of PSP games. Killzone Liberation will not offer online gameplay functionality.
  4. Access to the 30 days free PS Plus subscription is only available for those countries where PS Plus is offered. You will have access to the PS Plus content planned for May for 30 days. Access to the free games and exclusive features finishes at the end of the 30-day subscription period. Anything you buy with exclusive discounts, dynamic themes and premium avatars are yours to keep forever.”

Update: The page has been removed from the European blog.

  1. Are the games free for life or until the subscription runs out!

    • for life – but anything you get from PSN+ will last for length of subscription

  2. Too many negative comments on here. Give me a break SONY didn’t HAVE to give us anything. Unless they wrote and produced 5 brand new games in the last 3 weeks, then there is bound to be someone who already owns at least one of the games…. owning all 5 is just unfortunate, maybe SONY should have just offered up their entire back catalogue.

I can understand people being avid gamers that why we visit sites like this, but peoples reactions to this situation have just been ridiculous, its not like the frickin world ended is it.. people carrying on like a bunch of spoilt brats (not everyone, obviously)

Anyway, thats my 10 pennys worth.

  3. Gonna have to clear some space on my HDD (grr), but i guess if this is the ‘actual’ list (who can say for definite now that it has disappeared?), then i will have to go for LBP & Wipeout.

I’m a bit disappointed as i hoped to see Warhawk in the list, as i have been dying to try it out, but always too cheap to actually take the plunge. This would have been my excuse to try it!

The only ones in the list that i haven’t already owned are WipeOut & R&C. But i don’t want R&C,so if this is the list, a HDD copy of LBP would be a better choice.

Still, something for nothing (well, technically nothing) is still a bonus i suppose.

  4. It a free service from Sony comments is just incorrect. My bank is free service as well. Put it this way if seriously think that and this some form of compensation then. Put bellow all private details that entered in to PSN ie Name,Address,DOB,Card:-

You would be very angry with bank if they did this so why are so complainant as this what Sony has done.
Come on tell why on Earth couldn’t Sony encrypted private data before hand. The only reason they encrypted the cards was they where required to do this by Visa/Mastercard. I can change my card but I can not change my Date of Birth and should not have to change my name and address just because Sony wanted to take easy route.

    • Another way looking at is, Tesco is free service. You can enter for no charge and can browse for no charge. If want something you have pay for it. As such very same why the PSN works.
(Excepted you first have buy a PS3 or PSP, something don’t have to do when shop at Tesco. Before say about cars, you could use something call you legs)

  5. I happy with that, 2 x PSN and 2 PSP games I don’t have already so I’m quids in.

  6. Thats ok for me, i will get InFamous and Dead Nation

  7. Good news for me. I’ll take Wipeout and Ratchet & Clank for PS3 and Modnation and Killzone on PSP. Happy days :)

  8. At this point id rather they just take away the offer for the people moaning. You are entitled to absolutely nothing, this is a gesture of goodwill and you are either downright rude or completely spoilt if you think you should be paid credit or moan that they should be “better” games.

  9. Cool.
