Creed, Cell & Recon 3D Movies Are Go

The first three movies to be produced by the newly formed Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be based on the mythologies of Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.

Representatives of the studio will be travelling to to Los Angeles to discuss their plans with U.S. movie makers.

Division head Jean-Julien Baronnet has said,

We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we’re open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script.

A script for one of three projects will be ready by the end of the year.

Work has also commenced on 78 episodes of Raving Rabbids, a 3D CGI cartoon, each episode lasting seven minutes.

  1. I still expect utter averageness at best. AC might be okay, but the others will be the usual hollywood bullshit.

The Raving Rabbids cartoon however… the car adverts they do are brilliant I think, so possibly something decent might come from that.

    • Really? AC might be ok but the rest will be the usual hollywood bullshit?
AC will probably have the highest budget of all of the movies if they want to make it work and appeal to a broad audience.
High budget Hollywood production doesn’t automatically mean it’s bullshit. There are way more shitty indie / low budget movies, but you just never hear of them.
      Hipster Kitty says hello…

      • I only say AC might be okay because of the plotline. The others will likely be standard hollywood shoot-em-ups, which is what I mean by the USUAL hollywood bullshit. Predictable plotline, american dude saves the world, woop-de-fuckin-doo.

It’s the predictability and inability to break the cycle that is what I mean by ‘usual hollywood bullshit’, not that the film will be poor quality itself (though it may well be!). Look at Kick-Ass as an example. The film was fantastic but followed standard hollywood procedure – save the world, get the girl – whilst the comic book had the love interest hate the protagonist by the end.

      • So if a British guy was saving the world it would be a better movie?

  2. Good way to leverage the brand and bring more money into the companies.

Wonder if EA & Activision are watching… Dante’s and Dead Space would be good and obviously there’s a lot of mileage in the Modern Warfare universe. Black Ops would have been good, loved that story although Vietnam-era films have been done to death

    • I think War in general has been done to death…

  3. After that miniseries that accompanied Assassin´s Creed 2, which was actually quite well done, I have quite a lot of faith in an AC movie especially if it’s being done by Ubi under their new movie label division. Splincer Cell I’m not too keen on the idea of, they’d have to beef it up with action sequences and make it like a Bourne or Bond movie.

  4. Are these 3 films going to be live action or cgi?

  5. I bet the porn-versions – Ass In Creed, Sphincter Cell and Ghost BigSchlong – are already in the works.

    • the first 2 are good names, but i personally would have chosen ghost rectum for the third ;)

    • Make that Ass in Reed and you already have your female lead cast…

    • we just need mass errect in the works then

  6. I can easily imagine the Ghost Recon one being a pretty generic Action film, but it will be interesting to see how they do the Assassins Creed one. Looking forward to them anyway!

  7. Expansion is good, but Ubisoft have only really produce a small percentage of quality games out of their total output. I shall be skeptical as always, 0_0

  8. If they keep assassins creed close to the games plot it cuold be really really cool. I imagine Splinter Cell will be like a bad Bourne film and ghost recon will be a bad 80’s action film with some kind of bad terrorist behind the whole thing

  9. so how will this news affect the e3 sweepstake?

wasn’t one of the options that ubisoft announces the assassin’s creed movie from their new studio at e3?

  10. Hopefully these are better than fans expect them to be
